I took my daughter for her birthday yesterday, the food was amazing, the people are extremely friendly and they made us feel very welcome. They brought a very large piece of cake on the house and sang happy birthday!

Would recommend a visit - there is a wealth of food and drink options on the menu.

We had a lovely meal a few days ago. All 5 of us had great food and wasn’t too expensive. Menu has quite a few options and portion sizes are a good size. Staff were all friendly. Only thing I’d say wasn’t good was where we ate, there was a constant flow of people coming in and out. The door was constantly being opened, and left open so we were getting a constant draft. It got annoying after the 5th time having to get up and close the door! It would help if there was a porch added with another door so you’d have to close one door before opening the other.

We have passed this restaurant many times but thought it just served sweet treats, how wrong were we! Today I noticed a brunch menu which made me stop and check out the menu in the window. In we went, what an absolutely amazing surprise, lovely decor, comfortable seating, spacious and airy. We ordered smoked salmon and avocado on sourdough with a strica drizzle and a hot pastrami with swiss cheese bagel. Absolutely delicious! Our waiter, Ayushmaan, was very friendly and efficient.

Why is this place not busy, maybe people think, as we did, that it just sells sweet treats! It might prosper by having more advertising regarding savoury items, such as brunch and lunch!

Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch today - thank you!!

Went to the lion in castleford for the first time and i have to say I will be back !!!
Great decore for a music venue and friendly crowed , good prices at the bar and friendly service , venue isn't huge but this adds to the atmosphere, I can imagine popular bands with a good following would pack the place out in no time .
From my first impression it's a music lovers paradise and has an all round good vibe I will visit again to watch live music .

Food was amazing. Very nice menu, was spoiled for choice. The gammon had a very nice fire grilled flavour. The homemade chips were bang on! Only dropped a star because the service felt a bit lacking in attention. Kept having to try and get somebody’s attention just to get more drinks and eventually the bill. Maybe should have gone the bar but that wasn’t made clear. It looked like it was full table service. Place was cosy and busy. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends and family.

Lovely fresh fish a great size and well cooked. Nice crispy batter and a good portion of chips. The fishcake was also a good size and tasty.
I would say they are good price as well.

Called in for a breakfast and was greeted by lovely members of staff. The lady behind the bar Kelly D who served us was very pleasant and very professional. It's always nice to see a friendly smiling face even more so on a morning which isn't always everyone's favourite time of the day. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a very enjoyable breakfast. Hope we see her again

Jack needs a mention here. Lovely young man clearing tables and looking after the customers. My mum is disabled and needs a certain seat. The table needed clearing. As someone from Birmingham, I’ve tried countless Indian restaurants and Desi gastropubs, so I tend to have high expectations. While working in Yorkshire, I decided to try a place I found on Uber Eats. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, as many “Indian” restaurants that aren’t Desi-style mixed grill pubs often disappoint me.

However, this place completely surprised me. The Punjabi-style Prawn Karahi I ordered was one of the best curries I’ve ever had. Huge credit to the chefs and the restaurant for crafting such a fantastic dish.

The only constructive feedback I have would be to use a bit less oil in the curry and perhaps refine the recipe for the mint sauce. While it’s decent, it tastes like a mix of yogurt and store-bought mint sauce.

Overall, I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal, and I’m looking forward to visiting the restaurant in person someday.

the only cafe I will go to! I cannot thank all the staff for the incredible effort they go to for my son, he loves coming here for dinner & always loves it when Jo gives him a treat after which makes going out for dinner with a very active toddler actually enjoyable which we personally find very rare! Amazing cafe, amazing staff and amazing food! (home made chips are to die for) Just all round amazing, I recommend to everyone i know!

Been here a few times for drinks and to see bands. But unfortunately more recently for a couple of funeral wakes.
The pub provided refreshments of sandwiches, quiche, sea food, sausage rolls, salad, chicken, pork pies everything you could think of. Along with scones, cakes, roulades, tea and coffee and it was all really nice.

We tend to enjoy trying new takeaways, as often we get bored of the same flavours. This is our first time trying Orient Delight, but it won’t be our last.

We order what most would consider, a boring Chinese consisting of noodles, egg fried rice, salt and pepper chips and chicken as well as curry sauce. Although most would not eat these together or would consider them sides, we really enjoy the combination. The food we received was honestly some of the best we’ve had. The salt and pepper chicken and chips were amazing, not too spicy but packed with flavour. The noodles and rice were lovely too. It’s very easy for a Chinese to get these wrong as we have noticed before in the Pontefract/Castleford area. Orient Delight did not disappoint.

In addition, we also received free prawn crackers and free vegetable spring rolls which were lovely, they really made the meal.

The people that served my partner were friendly and kind and food was cooked quickly but not too quick as to arise suspicion about whether it has been reheated. Prices were in line with pretty much ever Chinese we’ve tried over the past year, our food cost about £20 ish. We will definitely be ordering again.

If you just out & about this is the best to go for a sandwich the choice is unbelievable for such a small cafe & they also do deliveries.They also did a fabulous buffet for my dad's funeral, very good selection of sandwiches & cakes & also included teas & coffees also catering for dietary & vegetarian options, everyone commented how lovely the food was.I would definitely recommend to anyone without a doubt if there having a function.
