Touchdown cafe
Airfield Estate, Loxley Rd, Wellesbourne, WarwickAfter a visit to the dentist this morning, I promised my self a Full English. My original plan would have taken me in the opposite direction to a cafe nearer home, but a change of plan led me past Wellesbourne Airfield. Perfect! The Touch down cafe. I ordered the Large breakfast and I was not disappointed. I could not have designed a more perfect Full English; two of everything. and the quality of the ingredients was first class! The bacon was meaty and tasted like bacon, not smoked salt! Eggs: runny yolk and cooked whites sausages tasted meaty, not fatty or gristly. The Tomatoes were not wet and watery. I suspect they had been 'reduced' slightly. the baked beans! they tasted like baked beans used to taste! Maybe they had added salt and sugar, but they had flavour! I have Heinz beans regularly, and they are bland compared to these! Fried bread and a slice of black pudding, the perfect complements to the meal. Now the bad points: and they are very minor niggles, matters of taste and inconsequential. My initial thought towards a slice of bread or toast on the side was a bit over the top. Or on the other hand, it could be considered a nice extra. and it was lovely! My mug of tea wasn't big enough. I drink tea by the bucket. A pint option would be a nice touch. I should have gone back for a second one. The Ketchup wasn't Heinz. but saying that, as with the beans Heinz has lost its edge, because the Sainsbury's alternative was perfectly satisfactory. I've left the biggest niggle to last. The knife was uncomfortable. It had sharp edges... where there shouldn't be sharp edges on a knife! In summary: Experience: Four stars Food Quality: Six Stars! 11/10 Despite my overly critical niggles this was absolutley PERFECT!!! Top drawer. I could have got better from a London hotel/restauraunt. This is the Benchmark English breakfast by my reckoning. Thankyou for making my day. Adrian Claxton

The Garden Shed Cafe
2 Newbold Rd, Wellesbourne, WarwickMet up with two friends for breakfast, we sat outside in the back garden and it was beautiful. Lovely and green with beautiful flowers, grasses, shrubs, and herbs growing. Nicely and friendly staff, a little slow on the service, but adequate enough not to be upset. I would recommend the full breakfast.
