The Sully Inn

This Sunday lunch came highly recommended by two dear friends of mine. It certainly came up trumps when a party of five of us dined there today. At only an hours notice did Nathan kindly accommodate us a table at the front of the restaurant. The decor is contemporary modern and the ambiance was perfect for a family occasion.

The servers were excellent and far exceeded expectations and coped well under pressure. They were professional, courteous, attentive and engaging. They certainty do The Vale Of Glamorgan very proud. My two cousins and their partners were impressed and they don’t impress easily.

Complimentary sour dough bread, butter and iced lemon water was brought to the table. Adequate time was given before our orders were taken. Only one starter was ordered whilst four of us opted for desert. The starter was ham hock terrine and salad which was divine. An assortment of soft drinks, lagers and cider was enjoyed whilst waiting for the main meals.

My cousin and I chose the pork belly with crackling. Other family members enjoyed a slow braised brisket of beef, a roasted Glamorganshire sirloin roast dinner and finally a cod fillets with Mediterranean vegetables and new potatoes dish. All meals were flawless. Excellent Yorkshire puddings, seasoned meals and delicious gravy. All portions were heartily and plates were cleared!

Deserts were sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, a bakewell tart and two lemon cheesecakes. All were exceptional and staff checked in on us regularly. Nathan and the team really looked after us and we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We tipped generously to show our gratitude. A well deserved five stars. ?

Booked last minute for an early table on new years eve, before a visit to the glee club in Cardiff - all I can say is WOW the food is incredible!!! first time here but def wont be the last - so tasty & very well presented - we were even given complimentary baklava which was also delicious! Also the best tsatsiki Ive ever tasted in the uk! We will definitely return :) Thank you for lovely meal x

We were a group of 8 but at the last minute needed to change to 9, this was no problem at all.
We nearly all had a different dish and everyone enjoyed the flavours of their meal.
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially to my mum who is 90 and in a wheelchair. We chose to come here to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday and am very glad we did. Many thanks to all the team for making the evening so special, we'll be back soon.

We had a lovely welcome, good service and delicious food. It was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The chairs were comfortable and the tables not too close together. We will certainly visit regularly.

Parking: Evening parking is easy and near to the restaurant we haven't visited in the day.
The restaurant is just off the town centre so it shouldn't be a problem.

First time visit with friends who had been before. Plenty of space. There's an upstairs and downstairs. Service was quite quick. Orders for drinks and food was done with the App. All good. Drinks fairly quick. Food as expected for time. Hot and tasty. Had sides, chicken wings, cauliflower bites, chilli prawns and some sweet potato fries, the fries where the only item that wasn't pipping hot. Wine and coffee was lovely. 6 of us ate, others had the beefburgers which looked great. A vegetarian burrito which was reported as also really tasty and a pasta dish. Will definitely go again.

Parking: Only 1 hr, and 2 hrs parking around town available.

Located in Penarth town centre, offers a mix of high table seating and standard tables. The atmosphere is inviting, though the layout feels slightly divided between casual and a bar.

The Negroni was disappointing as overly diluted and lacking the bold bitterness that makes the cocktail shine. The burnt orange garnish added a pleasant smokiness, but it couldn’t save the overall balance.

The red mullet itself was fairly basic, but the dish was elevated by the hospitable cabbage and a flavorful green sauce with sobrasada butter.

The artichoke had great flavor, but some pieces were excessively chewy and would have benefited from a longer grill time. However, the almond romesco with truffled Manchego was excellent and rich, nutty, and deeply satisfying.

The baby squid with Fino, garlic, and herbs was well-executed, delivering delicate flavors with just the right amount of seasoning.

For January, they offer a roll of the dice for a discount of up to 44% off ,
I landed 22%, which was a fun touch.

While some dishes showed promise, a few missteps held the experience back. Worth a visit, but with tempered expectations.

First off, the staff were lovely. Friendly and helpful. Then, there was the food. It looked like a standard menu, but was bursting with flavour! The veg was all fresh and crunchy, the meat wasn't fatty, the salt and pepper chips packed a punch! For the first time in ages, we ate every bite! Even the fried wantons weren't greasy at all, they were perfect crisp little bites of goodness.I wish I lived here, this place would be a weekly event!

We visited The Captains Wife this evening for a birthday. The food was lovely and thoroughly enjoyed. But what stood out the most was the outstanding service we received from Mike. He was warm and welcoming, knew the menu, was able to answer questions confidently. Served the food in a timely and friendly manner. He checked on us and regularly took drinks orders. One of my favourite pubs iv been to in a while, really nice pub in Penarth which I didn't realise is a bit bladdy powsh for a valleys boy tradie like myself but as the saying goes "no bluff too tough" and I think I bluffed posh right up until the moment I ejected my recently consumed chicken in white wine supper all over the bus stop like penguin feeding it's young!
The only thing that really let the place down was the men's toilets which had 2 lads who offered to sell me 'a bag' and the cleaning register which had been signed for a few hours ahead of time and was a bit sticky under foot. Other than that it's a nice pub and the beer was beery.

At last this pub at the centre of Penarth has been returned to its former glory. A buzzing atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks including great offers.
I called in on the last Sunday of the month and was treated to a free buffet, and a live duo. What a great evening I had!
Recommend this pub. A bus stops right outside with connection to Barry and Cardiff.

My partner and I often treat ourselves to Sping Garden. We'd eat less chinese food if it wasn't so good. It's a guilty pleasure that we definitely do too often, but have zero regrets.

It's got a great selection (though we definitely have our favourites that we tend to get... I'm pretty sure we could just order "the usual" at this point).

I highly recommend the salt and chilli chips if you fancy a break from the normal chip shop affair. In fact, the salt and chilli anything is a good bet, but you won't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Order here if you are local. It rarely takes more than 15 minutes to get dinner sorted. Quicker than cooking at home for sure. Frankly, it would be worth crossing town for too.

Took the grandchildren here. Husband had fish and chips and said how lovely it was. The children’s chicken nuggets were lovely too. We have a glitch with our youngest (typical 2.5 not happy over the slightest of things) and they helped us but went over and above what we expected. Lovely helpful people and very cheery too. It was very busy but they coped admirably. As it is Halloween they have decorated it out and it kept the children occupied. Will definitely sure again but I think we’ll leave the kids behind to enjoy our fayre in peace (lol).

This was the birthday meal with my daughter and grandson for a late lunch on Sunday. They very happily adjusted the menu for me so that I could have gluten and dairy free food. They even managed to provide me with an absolutely delicious pudding! They couldn't have been more helpful and the food was delicious.

Great lunch at this quiet restaurant. The staff was nice, the dishes were delicious. Good quality price with fresh food (jacket potatoes for less than 8 £, main meal for 10,50 £, kids meal for less than 5£). You can either sit inside or outside. Mind, the toilets are upstairs :)

An absolute pleasure it was for me to attend this outstanding restaurant on the evening of Friday 22nd September 2023 with friends.The cuisine is on-par with that of counterparts in Manchester and Leeds - the Northern English home of Indian subcontinent food.The venue allows Customers to bring their own beverage and will put any in cold storage until required. Directly opposite,a 30 second walk is a hipster Off Licence.This make the restaurant very busy therefore make a reservation in advance even on a Monday to Thursday.All staff where a pleasure.
