Bull & Heifer
Bettws Cedewain, NewtownCharming Pub&Restaurant near Gregynog . We went to the Bull & Heifer for a family dinner on a Tuesday night. The place warm and cozy, with a friendly crowd animating the pub. The staff welcomed us with smiles and good attitude and was ready to attend to us and explain the menu. There were so many options for the main dishes that it was hard to make a choice, but with the staff to guide us through the menu, we ended up choosing the special pie ? stuffed with meat and vegetables and the chicken stuffed with truffles in a mushroom sauce. Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Absolutely recommend

Bahar
49 Broad St, NewtownStopped here on a Monday with a work colleague. The service was excellent, the food was tasty and plentiful. Which considering we had the fixed menu for £13.99 was truly surprising. I had the chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice. There was so much, I couldn't eat it all.
Having frequented a fair few Indian restaurants both in the UK and abroad, I would rate this one as being in the top 5..

Baba Ali | Newtown
3 Shortbridge St, NewtownFound this place by accident two years ago, and so glad I did. The atmosphere inside makes you feel welcome, all the staff are friendly and happy. Service is prompt, even at busy times, I do recommend using their app to save your time. The food is great. I think I've tried pretty much everything on the menu, and if I haven't then kids surely have. Great variety, good portion sizes and really good value for money. Highly recommend the pizzas and kebabs. Sar beni is something I hadn't come across and that is something I treat myself to every few visits. Give it a try.. you won't be disappointed.
Dietary restrictions: They really take care of you if you have any issues with dietary requirements, my lad is lactose intolerant and his pizza is made separate to ensure no cross contamination. He loves it.
Kid-friendliness: They always make my kids feel happy, and actually my kids know it's a safe space where I know that they will be looked after. They serve a lot of kids and always take care of them.

Fish King Newtown
9 Severn St, NewtownAmazing food! The owner is super nice! We had driven for a long time and stopped in Newtown for a break. Even though it was almost closing time, the owner stayed late to make us fresh food. They even hand-wrote the names of the dishes on each package and wrapped everything in double layers to keep it warm. This was honestly the kindest thing that happened on our trip. This place deserves a perfect score!

Brickdale House, Wesley St, NewtownIt's been a few years since I last visited The Lantern, So I thought I would give it a go. Really glad that I did, as the food & service were as great as I remembered. Tried the Crispy Beef with salt, pepper & chilli, and it was pretty Zingy!
The nice lady had warned me that it was quite spicy, and it hit the spot nicely. Really nice aftertaste following the initial hit, with lovely flavours.
Will be visiting again!

Gulshan
40B Broad St, NewtownAbsolutely fantastic, the food is the most authentic I've eaten in the uk
Friendly through out, the staff are excellent at recommending dishes, partner was struggling to choose her dishes because of various dietary requirements and the staff whom were absolutely fantastic quick off the mark recommending dishes that when they arrived were absolutely delicious and the drinks here where I must admit the beer and cider selection was the average choices , however the wine list is one of the best I've seen for a long while, we chose the spanish roja well it was full of flavour medium texture and we ended up buying another bottle and what's more it was imported now for the main attraction the food. Absolutely brilliant and didn't leave anything these chefs know how to make real authentic cruisine unlike many Indian restaurants that do the English style I.e massala buhna etc, these chefs do the lot including many dishes of there native States mostly from Bangladesh. From the starters to the dessert it was wonderful, when we pass through these parts again we will be definitely coming back.
