The Red Lion Llangorse
Llangorse, BreconWent to the Red Lion after a recommendation but was still expecting pub grub, be it of a slightly higher standard than other restaurants in the local area. What we got was such a pleasant and delicious surprise. One of the best meals I’ve eaten in Wales, at a reasonable price which belied the quality of the meal. The stripped back, country pub interior created an ambience which worked perfectly alongside the menu. The staff were all helpful and friendly, engaging in natural conversation rather than forced small talk. Lastly, the star of the show; the food. What, at first, appeared to be a basic menu, became a game changer with the skill of the kitchen staff. Perfectly cooked steak, with frites, became a culinary spectacular with a mushroom sauce accompaniment which tasted so good, I can’t find an adjective to describe it. My partner had the lamb with pasta which was also incredible. We both had the croquette starters; one veggie, one beef; both fantastic. We finished with a shared panna cotta which was a lighter option as we were both so full. Again, the depth of flavour in this dessert mirrored the other dishes we’d enjoyed. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Red Lion and will definitely be returning.

Greggs
U1, Bethel Square, Shopping Centre, Lion St, BreconGreat Greggs shop and lovely Welsh staff as always. Mexican oval bite was delicious and better than what you get in England but the reason for the 1 star loss is for me personally the custard slices are not very good. Icing very bitty and not a lot of vanilla flavour from the custard and they seem to be smaller thinner than a mobile phone!

Coffee#1 Brecon
3 High St, BreconI recently visited Coffee #1 in Brecon, and I was really impressed by both the atmosphere and the quality of the drinks. The café has a cozy, welcoming vibe, making it a perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience.
I ordered a latte with coconut milk and a slice of carrot cake, both of which were delicious. The coffee was well-made, with a rich flavor and perfect balance of foam. The carrot cake was moist and flavorful, definitely one of the best I've had in a while.
The seating options were comfortable, and I appreciated the variety of spaces available, from quiet corners for solo visitors to larger tables for groups. It’s a lovely place to sit down, work, or just enjoy a peaceful moment with a good cup of coffee.
Overall, Coffee #1 in Brecon is a fantastic café with great service and a warm atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning!

47 Orchard St, Llanfaes, BreconAmazing!! We were away for Xmas and decided to do Sunday lunch, which neither myself or my partner (who is an exec chef) were excited about. 39 High St, BreconThe food was absolutely delicious. The ladies working on Friday were lovely and helpful. The only downside I'd the decor. It's a little sad looking, and the spaces are small. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.
Parking: It's located down a side street. There is parking nearby though.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is not a lot of space, unfortunately, but I'm sure they would try to accommodate.

The Coffee Shop
Coffee Bar, 4 Castle St, BreconNoticed this off the high street and we wanted a quick start to the day - bacon sandwich and coffee - but didn't fancy one of the high street coffee chains. Very impressed - this would certainly be a regular stop for us if we were local, and if we return to Brecon we would certainly call in. Staff very efficient and pleasant, really nice environment, clean and well set out. Our coffee and sandwiches were delivered very promptly to the table, the sandwiches were really good, quality ingredients and well prepared. Coffee was also really good. Plenty of selection with regard to cakes etc. and only sorry I could not justify a cake to top off my breakfast!!! Very good value for money. Overall really impressed, a great find.

Old Railway Line Garden Centre
Old Railway Line Garden Centre, Three Cocks, BreconSuch a lovely garden centre. but the food in the restaurant..... wow!! We were told when we arrived that there would be quite a wait for food (Sunday lunchtime less than 2 weeks before Christmas!) & they weren't wrong, but it was really worth the wait! We chose the turkey roast and it was honestly one of the best we have ever had! Very generous portions, piping hot and really yummy! Staff were great too. We will definitely be back again!
