Amici Italian Restaurant Blackwood
1 Pentwyn Rd, BlackwoodA small group of us called in last night for the first time. I heard this restaurant was one to visit and they were right. Superb menu choice, excellent food with great service and good value. A real asset for the town and right on our doorstep. Go local and enjoy.

Warm and welcoming

Great value for money with the amount of food but a couple of things that stop me giving a 5* rating.- Some items need a bit more cooking especially the black pudding and bacon.- Bits of coffee granules floating in the coffee.- Get lots of bacon but hardly any beans.- Cutlery is uncomfortable to use (too thin).They are just some minor issues, didn't stop me enjoying my breakfast and at a reasonable price too. Cakes looked amazing, wish we took some away. Would come back if in the area again.

84 High St, BlackwoodThe best place around for sandwiches. Thick, fresh cut, doorstop bread, white or granary. Choice of fillings and salad. Pies, chips, pasties, you can get a fantastic meal. Good price too. We go every week!!! The staff are so polite and friendly and remember you.

4 Station Road Building, PontllanfraithBeen going to Wongs for about 2 years now and they're officially my 'go to' Chinese.The food is always absolutely gorgeous and piping hot, there's never a long wait and you can tell the family who owns the business work really hard. The young lad who always serves me in particular, who definitely deserves a shout-out (keep on smashing it, dude!). The value for money is just fantastic and a meal for one often works out at under a tenner, which has been a God-send after inflation has raised the price of everything.Thanks so much to everyone at Wongs for all their hard work and lovely food. :)

Whilst I was passing nearby I saw a Big Issue seller (who I had noticed some 3 hours earlier was still sat outside in the heat of the day) .. I asked in the shop if they would kindly provide a drink for this person, without hesitation they freely handed a cold can for me to pass on. That is genuine kindness, well done to all for being so kind ?

Edit: managed to speak to someone the day after l. He went out of his way to get the pizzas to use and delivered them him self. Included a free drink as well which was a nice addition

Mynyddislwyn, Cwmfelinfach, BlackwoodBooked for a meal for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. Large party of 16. Seated upstairs. All set up and ready for us. Menu is not massive but a nice selection of meals. Steaks were great, Hunter Chicken was excellent and the Mix Grill Massive. No complaints from anyone and no one was hungry afterwards. Good selection of drinks at the bar. Staff were very warm and friendly and couldn't do enough to make our visit any better. If you are planning a meal/drink it's cash only. Considering I only live a mile and a half away I need to visit more often. Great place for a meal, a beer and a view you will remember.

The Cross Oak
Cross Oak Cottages, BlackwoodHaven't been to the place for over 30 years. Food was top notch and plenty of it. The staff were brilliant, helpful, polite and very well turned out. Would thoroughly recommend this place and I won't be leaving it another 30 years !
