The Royal Oak
57-61 High St, Dormansland, LingfieldI hired The Royal Oak for my partners 30th birthday. Nicola the owner from our initial phone call to the party was very responsive and understood exactly what I wanted. The main barman Tom was very informative and professional. The service throughout the night was brilliant. The space was perfect for 30 people, a DJ, dance area and a small sitting area. The food was delicious we had finger foods (very generous portions!). We all had the best time! Roll on to my 30th next year, thank you Nicola and to your bar staff!

Old House at Home
Old House At Home, 63-65 West St, Dormansland, LingfieldWalked into our local this evening, saw mussels on the specials board (my all time fav) had to order them!
The mussels arrive, extremely generous portion for the money - with homemade fries.
Mussels were divine and the sauce…well, we have been to many places and I can safely say the sauce was the best sauce I’ve ever had with any mussels I have ever had!
10 out of 10 from me - absolutely amazing! And from a chef that is so passionate about his food too!
Love, love, love!!!
George - you are an amazing chef!!

Second-Helpings
15 New Pl Gardens, LingfieldI have been visiting Barbara's for years to keep in touch with former colleagues. The food has always been wonderful with new surprises each year and the garden setting is just beautiful. A highlight each year is taking a look around the well maintained country garden as well as of course being welcomed by Barbara as a brilliant host. Can't wait to come again next year!

The Star Inn
Church Rd, LingfieldOur room was fairly basic but functional and clean although the stairs and lobby leading to the room needed some attention. We could hear music coming from the kitchen, I think, but fortunately this had stopped by the time we went to bed.
The bar was pretty busy and seemed popular with the locals but we decided to take a short walk into the main town area for a visit to a Thai restaurant which was very good.
The low price that I paid through Hotels.com represented good value. I would consider staying again.

The Greyhound
Plaistow St, LingfieldI went to The Greyhound with a group of 4 family members & my brother's girlfriend (6 of us in all) for lunch @ around midday. Despite the inside being in the process of redecoration for the new owners, our group was given a very warm & friendly welcome by the staff & by the other customers already in the pub. We had no problems finding a table & our drinks / food were delivered to us with friendly smiles (thanks Grace). The food menu was good & the quality of the food was excellent coupled with a wide range of drinks including apple juice for my mum & guinness for my brother. All 6 of us received our meals within a couple of minutes of the 1st one arriving (we had 4 Full English breakfasts & 2 gammon, eggs & chips), none of which lasted very long on the plates! Our compliments to the chef. The pub also has a fair amount of outside seating as well. In summary, it's fair to say we had a great time at The Greyhound - great food, great people, great prices...I'd fully recommend giving it a visit!

New Century Chinese
New Buildings, Newchapel Rd, LingfieldGot to say I had a takeaway and while.onky cash being a little odd nowadays, the food was pretty good. The service was a young lad who was quite rude, but I guess he is helping his parents out. It was bit expensive, but I guess the quality of the food made it a little easier to stomach... when I have saved up, we will have another from here for sure as it beats the east grinstead takeaways for Chinese by quite a way.

Bengal Village Lingfield
64 High St, LingfieldFood is always delicious from here. I often get takeaway with my boyfriend meaning we can get 25% off when we pick it up. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the staff are lovely and polite. I could not recommend this place more highly. My mum tried it with me for the first time this evening and agreed that it was one of the best in this area by far!

Shell
1 Godstone Rd, LingfieldIt has convenient parking. There is a toilet if you are driving long distance! The shop has a good range of things to buy. The fuel is a bit more expensive than other towns with multiple petrol stations as Shell has a monopoly here. Monopolies always lead to higher prices so I do not blame Shell for this. It is always busy due to its location so you pay for convenience. I have no complaints about it and it fulfills a very useful role in Lingfield.

Eastbourne Rd, Blindley Heath, LingfieldThis is a great place to celebrate birthdays, I booked a table with a special request of a not to busy table and they did their best to accommodate. Fish & Chips
New House, 1 Newchapel Rd, LingfieldWe get fish and chips about every three weeks in the winter / spring. Generally it is very good, they do fish no batter for me. However we do find the chips are undercooked and a bit hard in the middle. So either have to ask for them more cooked or put them in the oven when we get back .

Costa Coffee
7 E Grinstead Rd, LingfieldI used to avoid this cafe as I found it dirty, noisy and claustrophobic. However it has recently had a makeover and I like it much more now. It is much cleaner and doesn’t seem as noisy or crammed. New manager (I think) is very cheerful, friendly and efficient. What would make it even better is if the other staff were friendlier too. Not important to some customers but it goes a long way for me to receive a smile with my order!
