THE POACHERS POCKET
Rosemary Ln, Carlton, SaxmundhamWe had Sunday lunch and an evening meal here when on holiday. Excellent food, nice size portions and great service with a smile. Would recommend the Sunday Lunch pork belly , the smoked haddock and the burger. Reasonable price for quality food. It gets busy so parking can be a bit difficult but don't let that put you off.
Parking: Can be difficult at busy times.

The Fox Inn
The St, Darsham, SaxmundhamThe staff were amazing and really spoilt my dog who was sadly very ill at the time. Now he’s gone I will not forget the kindness your staff showed him and us. Not to mention the food was lovely too

The Friston Chequers
Aldeburgh Rd, Friston, SaxmundhamMy husband and I along with 2 friends visited The Friston Chequers for Sunday lunch on 23 June. The young man serving recommended the roast, and all 4 of us were in agreement that it was one of the best Sunday roasts that we have enjoyed for a long time. The staff were attentive and eager to please. A pleasant atmosphere helped to make our visit memorable. We shall return again soon and can highly recommend a visit to this pleasant pub.

The Sweffling White Horse alehouse (no food)
Low Rd, Sweffling, SaxmundhamThis has won numerous awards for the beer and truly is a proper Suffolk pub. Super cask beers, lovely friendly service and a beautiful setting. A hidden gem of a pub without a doubt!Edit: it's still excellent and a place I go out of my way to visit when I'm here in Suffolk

Tate & Jack's Snack Bar
South bound side A12 dual carriageway, SaxmundhamFirst time visit today. Brilliant food quality and value for money. My bacon and sausage sub roll was so large, I almost needed a roof rack. Great atmosphere and customer service to compliment this experience. Will definitely venture down the A12 hungry with the intention to visit in future!

Tipi Café
Tunstall, SaxmundhamWalked from Aldeburgh to the Tipi café, first time we have been to the maltings. Staff were great at the tip café, the coffee was over priced for what it was, but in reality you are not really paying over the odds for the coffee, you're paying for the respite in wonderful location with a lovely ambience. I shall be returning in a couple of days time, so happy days. Now for my walk back!

Queens Head
21 High St, SaxmundhamChinese food here is great. We got a take away with a lots of dishes. The standouts for us were The sweet n sour prawn balls, they were amazing, they’re not too bready. The Satay sauce is proper tasty. I use to live in Hong Kong and it’s very difficult to find proper special fried rice in this country, it’s normally dark and soaked in soy sauce and it shouldn’t be. This place does it right. YUM!

Mandarin House
47 High St, SaxmundhamAwesome local Chinese. Extremely authentic food, always fresh, always hot but most importantly it’s always delicious. Only thing they could change is the chicken balls, make them less doughy. Prices have gone up which is disappointing but we understand why.
Dietary restrictions: They cater for all I believe.
Parking: Its on the street.
Kid-friendliness: Always friendly. The chap on the desk will always hold a conversation down if he isn’t busy.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not particularly Wheelchair friendly as there is a step in. However if they saw a wheelchair user they would for sure help them in.

Waitrose Cafe Saxmundham
Church Hill, SaxmundhamA quick shop at my local Waitrose supermarket only to try the new automated checkout system where you pretend to be a checkout assistant and scan your own items one by one, supervised by a Waitrose partner! However, would not accept my google wallet payment on my smart phone. After 10 minutes with the supervisor struggling to get the payment authorised, we both gave up. Not the service we expect from a prestigious supermarket. You can understand why they have a sign by these machines stating all customers will be prosecuted for not paying for their purchases. What a cheek when their machines aren't able to cope with the modern payment methods, why should the customer feel responsible.
Get your act together Waitrose, you're not a dinosaur. Or are you!

Costa Coffee Saxmundham
Church Street, SaxmundhamIt's Costa. The food is mostly prepackaged and heated as required. The coffee and other drinks look good but I have tea, sadly they don't offer decaffeinated tea but they do offer different types of milk. I enjoy the location and going with a friend. The seating is nicely spaced out and we can talk without being overheard. It is a pleasant experience.

Plough and Sail Snape
Snape Bridge, Snape, SaxmundhamNice country pub with very good parking and facilities. Pub was clean and service excellent, very friendly. Food was really tasty and restaurant standard however the portion sizes a little small and the wine, whilst nice was q little over priced. On the whole I would recommend especially for a special occasion.

The Ship at Dunwich
St James's St, Dunwich, SaxmundhamAte at The Ship in the evening. Friendly service and good food. Popular, so probably worth booking a table, though we squeezed in without a booking. Particularly recommend the miso aubergine or the fish and chips. Shared baked camembert also delicious.
