The Strode Arms
E Cranmore Ln, Cranmore, Shepton MalletWonderful menu with pub classics done to perfection as well as creative gastropub offerings. The cottage pie was amazing, with a side of roasted cabbage, carrot, paranips, and a sweet potato mousse. The risotto was tempting. The loaded fries were fun. Great drink selection. Lovely setting with a peaceful ambience. Easy parking. Highly recommend.

The Crown Pilton
Conduit Square, Pilton, Shepton MalletHave been here several times and the food and service are always top notch. Fantastic buzz inside in the pub in the evening. On a sunny day the garden is a great place to sit out , kids can safely run around and stay in sight. During the summer months make sure you check the smoker outside as well as what’s on the main menu.

The Bell Inn
Bruton Rd, Evercreech, Shepton MalletLooking for somewhere to break our journey from Lyme Regis to the Midlands, and came across this inn that did breakfasts. Situated in a small village with some parking. Arrived at 10am and ordered their 'Big Bell' breakfast, which was tremendous. Well cooked, plenty of it. Friendly staff. Well worth the slight detour.

The Crossways
North Wootton, Shepton MalletThis is our 3rd and final night for now as we are looking to come back soon. The service from everybody has been excellent, pleasent, polite and helpful especially Prajhant Oli, the manger who couldn't do enough for us. The food, both evening meal and breakfast has been great quality and good size. The room is as advertised, it was really clean, comfortable bed, good size and an amazing bathroom with separate shower and bath. It is in a remote location but cental to Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury etc. I would highly recommend. Keep up the good work.

Whitstone's
Charlton Crossroads, Shepton MalletGluten free options available.
Yes they are limited but they're tasty
Came in at 6.30pm on a weekday. Reasonably busy but still spaces left.
Ordered grilled cod, jacket and mushy peas. I expected it to be dry and tasteless, however when it came out I was pleasantly surprised.
Cod was cooked beautifully and retained flavour.
Jacket was cooked properly not a quick nuke in a microwave.
Mushy peas were nice too ?
On the whole very impressive
Quick and polite service, knowledgeable staff, nothing too much trouble.
Will happily dine here again

Waggon & Horses
Old Frome Road, Shepton MalletWent for a Sunday lunch today for my mums 89th birthday. Their were 10 of us. It was a great service. A few little issues, but sorted without any hassle. One thing we thought would of made it better was maybe instead of coming out with lots of gravy, bring out gravy in gravy boats.Must admit the Raspberry pavlova absolutely lush.Thank youParking: Good car park

Kilver Court - Gardens and Cafe
Kilver St, Shepton MalletWhat a little gem of a place. Never been here before, even though we live about 11 miles away! After parking the car up (free), you can head towards the small cafe, for a drink and cake, or go into the designer shops (only one was open on Easter Bank Holiday Sunday, but more so after severe flooding), or pay £7.50 entrance to the gardens, which I think is a little on the expensive side, especially as the foliage and flowers weren't out yet or even get a complimentary drink. Better to go in mid Spring - Summer time. As usual, I took lots of photos. But still worth a visit.

Bowlish House
Wells Rd, Bowlish, Shepton MalletWe were recently lucky enough to stay in this gorgeous hotel by accident after a mix up with a booking in our original hotel - and we are so glad that we got to stay here! The host, Maryanne, was extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble in order to make our stay comfortable and stress free. The rooms were gorgeous - from the lounges downstairs to the bedrooms right up on the top floor which were cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. There were really lovely touches such as the coffee machine in the room including fresh and oat milk which could be obtained from the fridge at reception, toiletries and even pillow spray to aid a good night’s sleep. Such amazing attention to detail made for an excellent stay in the most beautiful of surroundings. Next time we will definitely be booking this hotel as our first option. Thank you Maryanne for an amazing weekend stay

The King William IV
Station Rd, Shepton MalletGreat pub, excellently kept ales and ciders, and one of the best Sunday Roasts in Somerset. Carved from the joint, with all the trimmings. Its also a skittles pub with sixteen home teams!!! It also does great live music sometimes. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

The Dusthole
Kings Arms, Garston St, Shepton MalletI can only recommend 'The Dusthole'. We were very impressed by the owner's helpful and friendly manner as well as the 'charming' rooms. The atmosphere is very familiar, typically 'English', the room is very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. I would definitely book here again! Thank you very much for the great time!!

The Poachers Pocket
Chelynch Rd, Shepton MalletWe visited the Poacher's pocket with our two young children for Sunday lunch and it was delightful! We were seated in the sunny and warm conservatory area of the restaurant and our orders for drinks and food were taken straight away.
The staff were welcoming and so kind to the kids. There was a substantial outdoor area where our children could have a run around. There was plenty of seating, not to mention a working fire adding to the atmosphere.
The food was top notch! We were served massive portions packed with flavour. I am so impressed and looking forward to heading back again!
Vegetarian options: Exceptional!
Parking: Parking to the right of the pub.
Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space around the tables to allow you to park a buggy if needed. Tables are a great size so there was space for the kids to draw. The staff made sure we all knew the plates were warm.

The Den at Thorner's
Thorner's Farm, Pylle, Shepton MalletThe food, (The Ultimate Breakfast) was very good and plentiful. However the space is very noisy when full and conversation is difficult. I would draw the management's attention to the washbasin in the ladies. It needs a really, deep clean, it did not leave a good impression.

The Charlton Inn
29 Charlton Rd, Shepton MalletA really lovely anniversary stay at the beautiful Charlton House. The team in reception, the spa, housekeeping and the restaurant were all fantastic. friendly, helpful, professional l and provided excellent customer service. We dined in the restaurant, breakfast, evening meal and afternoon tea the following day and enjoyed really good food and service. The spa was lovely, and the booked treatments were outstanding. A good gym with decent equipment. We had a lovely big room with small outside area which was great. There were a few small areas around the outside spa and room which were a little tired, but nothing that detracted at all from the fantastic break we enjoyed.

Domino's Pizza - Shepton Mallet
8 High St, Shepton MalletFast, efficient, tasty and safe. Not much more you can ask for really.Who'd have thought that the word "safe" would be part of a takeaway review, eh? It will certainly date my review as being "the pandemic years" when it's read in future ?
