The Flying Fish Pub & Restaurant
Wood Rd, Windmill Hill Ln, Ashill, IlminsterA Wonderful Stay with Exceptional Hosts I recently had the pleasure of staying at Buddy and Kate's accommodation, and I must say, they have set a remarkable standard for hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine desire to ensure our stay was enjoyable. It’s evident that they truly care about their guests' experiences. The food provided was nothing short of amazing. Buddy and Kate took the time to cater to various dietary requirements, making sure that everyone could indulge in delicious meals without worry. It was refreshing to see such attention to detail, especially when it comes to accommodating allergies. The drinks menu was equally impressive, boasting a wide selection at very reasonable prices. It was a delight to unwind with a refreshing beverage after a day of exploring. As for the accommodation itself, we were thoroughly impressed. The property was immaculate, clean, and fresh, providing a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The soundproofing was excellent, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep, and the warmth of the place was particularly appreciated during our stay. We travelled quite a distance to experience this gem, and I can confidently say that we cannot wait to return. Buddy and Kate have created a wonderful retreat, and I wholeheartedly recommend their hospitality to anyone looking for a memorable getaway. Thank you once again, Matt.

The Bell at Broadway
Broadway Rd, Broadway, IlminsterTable for two at lunchtime. I know this is unavoidable for all restaurants and in some ways its a good sign but I arrived here at 11:40am for a 12am booking to be met with a strong smell of disinfectant. Maybe its just my sensitive nose. By the time we ate at 12 40 the smell had all but dissipated. Not sure what you could do about that, maybe it was my timing. Two excellent rump steaks followed by STP with custard and a chocolate brownie with custard were excellent. My steak was maybe a bit fatty but it didnt spoil it. Much to recommend about this olde pub, especially the massive stone slab flooring.

Stonemasons
Harts Cl, IlminsterWe booked at short notice for Christmas Day Lunch, after plans had to change to accomodate elderly relatives in different locations. Kerry (the Manager) was extremely helpful on the phone and with follow-up e-mails. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and food was bought out promptly. Staff were helpful and festive, and very kind towards my elderly father-in-law who has dementia. Comparing the cost with other Christmas Day providers and the service we received, we felt it was very good value for money.

Cafe Square
7 Silver St, IlminsterThis cafe is the best in Ilminster for a number of reasons! Firstly you are always greeted in such a happy & friendly manner with smiles all around. Secondly, the food is amazing!! From full English breakfasts to paninis and much more. The choice of drinks is plenty so you’ll never be thirsty! And prices are fantastic. Lastly, the lovely ladies in Cafe Square will always be as accommodating as they can be, going above and beyond for their customers. Please if you are visiting Ilminster, holidaying in the area, or simply never been here before, take the time to. You won’t be disappointed. This is my go to cafe, for lunch with family & friends or on my own, to stop for a coffee or mocha whether that be to drink in or take away or to take my children for lunch or a cheeky Shmoo milkshake! Thankyou ladies for bringing such a fantastic Cafe to town.

Lottie's Snack Pod
A358, ChardLotties is awesome. All orders are cooked fresh, good selection of food. Customer service is 10/10. The big winner for me is although this is a road-side Snack Shack Lottie takes both Cash AND CARDS! I find this great as I often don't have any cash on me.
Parking: Lottie is in a large lay-by well clear of the main road. Plenty of room to park up and the lay-by is nice an shady on a hot sunny day.
Wheelchair accessibility: Lotties is in a large Lay-by well off of the main road. No steps, no obstructions.

Sweet Surprise
23 Silver St, IlminsterIt's rather nice to be back here after so long (I last visited during my sixth form years, so to speak). Excellent food and drink, reasonable prices, quiet atmosphere. Perhaps I will come again, who can say? Bear in mind that car parking around the area is hard to come by, so you may have to account for that!

The Kitchen on Silver Street
14 Silver St, IlminsterWe visited here as it was literally the only cafe we could find in Ilminster.
The food was excellent quality.
However we did find it rather expensive, eg £1.20 for a round of toast, or only 1 hash brown per serving.
I ordered avocado & poached eggs on toast, & it was all squeezed onto 1 piece of toast! Talk about penny pinching!
I don't think we have ever paid £26 before for 2 breakfasts!!
Ilminster definitely needs a few more cafes to provide some healthy competion in my opinion.

The Royal Oak
The Cross, IlminsterNice pub with big TVs, which is why I went there, to watch football. Nice beer, and I had a pizza. It was served hotter than molten lava. When it was finally safe to eat. It was delicious. Shame about the result of the game. But I can't hold that against the pub.

Rajpoot Tandoori
12 Silver St, IlminsterI have been coming here since I was a child with my parents (thank you for all the little chocolates I was given growing up) now I’m 22 and still have yet to eat a better Indian! I would recommend the Korma I never stop here without getting one (cannot put into words how delicious the korma is btw), although nothing on the menu will disappoint. Everyone I’ve recommended this place to have agreed it’s the best Indian they’ve ever had!! Honestly cannot beat it 10/10 will always come back here <3

Jordans Courtyard, Horton Cross, IlminsterWe booked breakfast for a group of 16 after a wedding at Hornsbury Mill. The location is beautiful. We pre-ordered (due to large size of group). On our arrival the tables were all ready. The service was excellent. We had large pots of tea. All the food came out, it was good quality ingredients and hot. Would highly recommend. Thank you.
