We’ve just moved house so went to The Cotley Inn today

The moment we walked in, I just knew it was going to be good.

Nicely presented. Even though it was a wet, quiet mid week lunch, there was lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Not a ‘uniform’ in sight, so un could tell this wasn’t owned/ operated by a chain

A lovely small, seasonal menu. Brilliantly priced; as was the wine list. Had a quick drink in the bar, and yippee, they even knew how to make a proper Bloody Mary

Food was superb. Wine sublime. Price, excellent

Place, food, team, price, all round experience ? x 5

You just know when you’ve made a great new discovery, because, you’ll definitely be going going back

Great spot, friendly & helpful staff, excellent hot & cold buffet.
My friend thoroughly enjoyed her celebrating.

My family and I had such a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner at the restaurant. We had the pleasure to meet Karine, who was our host at the establishment, and her husband Ron, who prepared the food. Both were wonderful people, and their team of employees went above and beyond to look after us and our needs. The food was delicious, the accommodation was very comfortable and a magnificent team of employees. We will surely return.

A great village pub, a warm welcome & good food at a very competitive price. Definitely the change of chef has improved the food quality, clearly having an understanding on local trade makes a difference. We'll be back without a doubt!!

Lovely and plump rice, never had authentic Japanese food this good. I thought places like this were only made for cities, not a small town in Somerset!! Absolute amazing, would definitely recommend. Staff also so friendly and personable

A very quaint cafe which sells a variety of options. I went for a raspberry smoothie and a slice of raspberry lemon drizzle cake (yes, I am obsessed with raspberries!). I also ordered a pizza with a few toppings, one of which being jalapenoes. I don't know what magic they work on their pizza, but the jalapenos raised it to another level. It was a tangy type and was insane with the pizza. Overall, I rate it a 10/10.

We googled for a good restaurant in Chard and was impressed by the good reviews for A Tasquinha. We weren't very impressed by the entrance which wasn't very welcoming and had cigarette butts around the doorway. The inside of the restaurant was nice, clean and has a small garden outside. We presume the lady who served us was the owner. She is very pleasant and welcoming and took our orders and served our food speedily. We ordered a tapas plate for starters but when it came, there were no olives as they had run out that morning. However, we were charged the same price. (Sainsburys is 2 minutes up the road!) She recommended one of the specials, a bean, calamari and prawn stew which, for a cold day sounded good but the prawns were undercooked, there were only small very small pieces of calamari and it was beans, beans and more beans which was quite bland. My husband had their 'sausage' special. A tiny piece of sausage with a cooked egg ( he was not asked how he wanted his egg and it was a hard fried egg. I can't recommend the food here

Late booking for Sunday lunch. Lots of veg, all very tasty. Not much beef sadly, and it was rather tough, but it was late in the afternoon. Lemon cake was lovely. Ordered a couple of flat whites - first time with cocoa sprinkled liberally on, not something I would order again!! In all, lovely place, good service and would definitely go back.

Heather and Alan hosted our sons engagement party. They where so helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Popped in for a coffee while visiting Chard. Thought we would try the cakes as looked great. Mum has to have gluten free, and although they had only one type left she said it was great. I had a cherry and ginger tart, which was amazing. I’ve eaten all over the world Brisbane, Homg Kong, San Francisco, New York, Paris, and I can honestly say this was me of my top 5 cakes of all time.

Highly recommend Hornsbury Mill. The staff were immensely helpful from first point of contact and throughout our stay. They went above and beyond and exceeded all our expectations. We stayed over Valentine’s Day and their food was incredible, reasonably priced, with a good selection. The venue was decorated wonderfully with such attention to detail. We hope to visit again soon!

Great Fish & Chips, also their Roasted Chicken is very well cooked, and good value. when we are next down that way this would be a go to fish bar, interestingly either side of the fish bar is a Curry house and Chinese restaurant, so plenty of choice for such a small village
