Glenmorangie House
Fearn by Tain, TainWould give this 6 stars if possible. What a phenomenal stay we had! The staff was excellent and catered to our every need. The house itself has the most unique and interesting design I've ever stayed in. Different rooms throughout the house modeled after a different part of the whisky making process. The whisky bar in the Gold Room was exceptional. Knowledgeable staff could sit and talk about whisky for ages! Learn about it, taste different drams, etc.The food was also very high-end. 5 star. Though we only had the breakfast. Best croissants in Scotland made at this little house!

The Oystercatcher
Main St, Portmahomack, TainThis is a hidden gem, and it’s impossible to just walk into without planning and reservations. They’re not playing hard to get; it’s simply because it’s run by a lovely couple and no one else. The food is amazing—better than fine dining, with portion your grandma would give you. Don’t overorder as they give you a few small bites here and there outside what you’ve ordered. I had to walk along the shore for half an hour just to recover from how much I ate. I’m glad I made the reservation weeks in advance—it was worth every penny, mile traveled, and the wait.

Greens Restaurant Tain
11-15 High St, TainA little more to offer for lunch than the usual fare locally, so difficult to choose. Opted for the delicious goats cheese, beetroot and orange salad. Hot chocolate was lovely and chocolatey. Friendly staff. Closes at 3pm. We will definitely be back

Mansfield Castle
Scotsburn Rd, TainJust stopped at the Mansfield for the night. It's old but spotlessly clean, which is the main thing. The staff were lovely and attentive to my.2 doggies. Didn't eat here, so can't comment on that. The bath had plenty of hot water, I live in my.motorhome full time, so this was a treat and I'm leaving very happy.
