They have fresh delicacies made daily. Their scones are delicious. And they have the absolute best sticky toffee pudding in all of Scotland! If we lived in Stonehaven, we would be at The Villa every day they are open. Please visit them - you will not be disappointed!

The Tolbooth Seafood Restaurant
Harbour, Old Pier, StonehavenThe tagline of this restaurant is proper Seafood and they are 100% correct! For a start, the setting is wonderful. It’s right on the pier and there is free parking just behind. Views both sides are beautiful and Stonehaven provides ample space to walk off a great dinner. The staff were professional, knowledgable and friendly and enhanced the experience. The drinks were great, both mocktails and wine and the bread and butter superb. The starters were divine! For me they were the best, the sauce with my mussels was excellent. Our mains were very tasty (Hake & the Turbot) and finished off with scrumptious desserts. We will definitely be back when up this side of the world again!

The Market Bar
4 Market Ln, StonehavenI went into this place while passing by because all the cafes were closed, but it is a pub with a completely local atmosphere.
There is no separate menu, so you can order whatever beer or liquor you want, and the staff is very friendly. Beer is also cheap!
It's pet friendly, so you can see cute dogs, and the bathroom inside is very clean.
Since you're in Scotland, be sure to try Tennent's. It is poured into a cute special cup

Troupers Bar
10 Barclay St, StonehavenI was there alone on Thursday the 29th and the guy at the bar was super nice and friendly. Despite not understanding the Scottish accent very much, I really enjoyed the beers I tried and the hospitality of the people who chatted with me in this place. Super recommended.

Highly recommend this as a great place to stay in a bit so large, but large enough city on the east coast of Scotland

The Mars bar was good - what made it incredible was being able to have one from the birthplace of the deep fried Mars bar! I do regret we did not take the opportunity to have fish and chips there. When we return, we will definitely make it a priority to eat dinner here.
Parking: Parking is limited but it is so easy to park anywhere you can find and then walk all over Stonehaven.

21A Ann St, StonehavenThe kids had been craving Italian after a week in Scotland, so we stopped at Gino’s for lunch after spending the morning at the castle, and we are so glad we did! The service was so friendly and the food just great! Easy parking on the street too!

We have rarely experienced better Indian cuisine. After a relatively short time, the friendly waiter served us our food. The prices were okay. The restaurant is quite close to Stonhaven town square. There are also paid parking spaces there. It's a good idea to take a stroll through the city and to the beach. New Taste
100 Brickfield Rd, StonehavenAs usual, terrific food. I especially like the crispy pancake rolls. Had a portion of these (3) followed by special foo young (that's how its spelled in the menu). Wife had chicken and Sweetcorn with boiled rice. Both thoroughly enjoyed it. Give it a try.

The Ship Inn, Stonehaven
5 Shorehead, StonehavenThe location of this hotel is superb! We did not stay at the hotel but stayed a few doors down from it. We did have dinner at the restaurant on 2 different occasions while visiting Stonehaven. The food and service were superb both times. The view of the harbour from the dining area in the bar is amazing! If you are looking for a room in the heart of Stonehaven, check them out. If you want an amazing meal, definitely book ahead!
Nearby activities: Dunnottar Castle is the highlight of the whole area. There is also a golf course, the harbour itself, and many other things which make Stonehaven a destination all its own.
Safety: I've never felt safer than when in Stonehaven.
Walkability: You can walk just about anywhere in Stonehaven. The hotel is about 1.5 miles from Dunnottar Castle and the walk to the castle is simply amazing!
Food and drinks: Everything was great!
Noteworthy details: Stop in all of the local shops, buy souvenirs, and try all of the cafes. There is so much here that it could be a vacation all in itself.

Sufficient starters, including vegetarian options. Among the mains, I especially enjoyed the lamb curry. Chunky lean and tender meat in a slightly hot sauce. Excellent.

Old Pier, StonehavenWe stopped off here after a walk to the Dunnottar Castle. The vegan (falafel baguette) option was brilliant, and the coffee was a good sized portion. Both the food and drinks were served very quickly - exactly what was needed after a wet walk!

Marine Hotel
9-10 Shorehead, StonehavenWe stayed two nights and loved the hotel, pub, and restaurant. We worried about the noise of sleeping above the pub and restaurant, but it wasn’t a problem at all. Room was comfy and the meals were both great. Lovey location overlooking the harbor, we enjoyed watching and hearing the tide. Good beer selection including their own 6 Degrees North offerings. Look out for a Tour de France green jersey, signed by Mark Cavendish, on the pub’s ceiling. Allez Cav! And well done, Marine Hotel!

The Bay Fish & Chips

The little place is small, they prepare everything at the moment and then package it for you, everything is excellent from the fish to the potatoes, to the fried scampi in butter.
