71 High St, North BerwickI visited North Berwick this week (again) and decided to treat my host and his partner to an evening in a restaurant. I asked them to choose the best. They did! The 3 of us ate there 12th Feb and it was absolutely outstanding. The courses were fabulous, the wine excellent and the service was supreme. Many thanks to all concerned. If only I didn’t live 300+ miles away.

What you are getting here is properly prepared food, prepared by people who know what cooking is. A place like this helps you avoid the dullness of the restaurant chain and offers you a quality experience at a reasonable price. 49A Kirk Prts, North BerwickFantastic little gem if you are serious about your coffee. Roasted on site and tasted great. Fantastic atmosphere with a rustic industrial charm and the coffee roaster proudly on show at the rear. Friendly attentive staff. Cool place, great coffee!

Scottish Seabird Centre
The Harbour, Harbour Terrace, North BerwickFantastic day out and boat out to Bass Rock! Would 100% recommend the boat tour to the 3 rocks and around. The whole boat ride can be wet, but unless it's soaking outside, you will largely be dry in the open boat. Salty sea... Kevin and Nigel are the best duo and are great at giving this tour too!! Would recommend and definitely see some amazing birds, seals and hear the great history of the place with Kevin (not me, the guide)! Cafe is also great place to warm up, and also toilets be clean and well kept! 10 out of 10 would boat again. Specific boat tour we went on was about 1 hour 30mins.

The Ship Inn
7-9 Quality St, North BerwickA warm and vibrant pub, with warm and welcoming staff, both members of staff were friendly and personable making all the difference. The menu was really good with wide ranging choice for all occasions and foodie types. The other half hoped somewhere would have a nice vegetable stew on such a cold day as it was. Great to find The Ship Inn had this on the menu and apparently it was very good. I had the Chicken Parm which was great, and our pooch appreciated it too!! ?Added bonus was the dog friendly element and Edie our dog was served first with a bowl of water without even having to ask.
Young staff, as there were here, can teach others so much about how to welcome folk in, make them feel welcome and create the 'nothing is a bother' attitude. The boss of the staff here should feel lucky to have such great all-rounders. Although we stay in Perth we'll certainly be back as there's lots more I'd like to try on the menu. Well done and thanks for a great lunch guys! ?

Marine, 18 Cromwell Rd, North BerwickMy wife and I had lunch in the Bass Rock bar and it could not have been a more enjoyable experience. The team who looked after us were absolutely amazing. They were friendly, personable and paid attention to every detail.

1 Quality St, North BerwickI've previously reviewed the Alandas in Edinburgh and found it wanting - maybe because I'm not a huge "rich" ice cream fan. This time though, I tried the sorbet - what a change in opinion! The tangerine sorbet was fresh and tangy, just lovely. I shall have more of this in the future.
My friend had ice cream and was very happy with her order.
Staff was friendly and patient, a must in a busy place.

Archerfield Walled Garden Archerfield Estate, DirletonWhat a joyous place to visit. From the Fairy trail to the Willow walk. The cafe is an edible delight awaiting discovery. The shop and garden centre simply divine. Visited last year when in Scotland and didn't disappoint on a 2nd visit.

There's been a new boost of staffing here recently and service has greatly improved.
No longer on the way to work are we experiencing delayed opening times or not opening at all due to staffing.
Staff all seem happy and friendly too.

Food arrived hot and on time. Pizza is the classic chippy style with thick base and a bit of a spicy tomato sauce, chips were made fresh! Can’t complain!

Merryhatton Garden Centre
11 Holding, North BerwickWhat a magical morning we had on Saturday Breakfast with Santa. We were made to feel very welcome by Holly and the team in the Cafe. Santa was amazing and took his time visiting each table, chatting away to the kids. After breakfast we had a lovely visit to Santa’s grotto where we managed to take some great photos and the kids enjoyed playing games. Looking forward to our visit next year.

125 High St, North BerwickI love the food here, the prices are a bit expensive however it’s definitely worth it as a treat in my opinion. I love the chicken skewers, the rice and curry sauce, the chicken chow mein was also pretty good.
The staff are okay, not overly friendly which i enjoy I’m not too keen on waiters putting on a full performance to possibly get a tip, staff in here just do their jobs, love that.
Overall it’s a pretty casual atmosphere with options to sit in or takeaway, or for delivery.
However it is closed Monday and Tuesday, but open every other day from 5-10pm however 9pm cut off time for sitting in.
Street parking is available however it may be difficult during busier/tourist periods.
Pets not welcome.
