Seasons
Gattonside, MelroseOverall an excellent experience. Friendly, one feels 'looked after'.
Local food, always delicious.
Feels pricey by Borders standards, but quality wise it really is a cut above anything else in the area.
The same food and experience in Edinburgh would be eye wateringly expensive.

Baguette'n'Go
2 High St, MelrosePoped In here for my breakfast this morning. Got one of if not the best baguettes in my whole life. Periperi chicken, some jalapeño, peppers, lettuce & cheddar cheese. With a caramel latte. After telling the guy my plans he charged my phone & even donated a meal for my lunch. This picked me up. And showed me that just one small act of kindness can make your whole trip worth every minute. I didn't get the guys name. But he was not the owner. I hope I don't get him in trouble. But hjs boss needs to give him a raise lol thank you man blessVegetarian options: LotsDietary restrictions: LotsKid-friendliness: VeryWheelchair accessibility: Yup

The Townhouse Hotel
Market Square, MelroseMy first moment in the room was watching a clothing moth flutter around the wool blanket on the bed. Gross! I kept my clothes safely hidden.
No hand soap at the sink, the bath water never actually got hot, no iron or board, no kettle!
The room was strangely oriented and lacked all amenities. The bed was rock hard, but the pillows were nice. Clean.
Mostly friendly staff. Food was completely satisfying & priced fairly. Very quiet despite being on a main road.
Probably wouldn't stay again.

The Hoebridge
Gattonside, MelroseWe had an awesome dinner at The Hoebridge. The dishes were delicious and executed with finesse and style. The service and atmosphere are relaxed but on point, and the dining room is paired back and cosy. As we were both not drinking we had excellent non-alcoholic cocktails. The dessert we had was simply amazing, a chocolate, hazelnut and salted caramel triumph. We will definitely be back again as it's simply the best in the area.

Hunters Stables Bar & Bistro
Moorfield, Main St, St Boswells, MelroseThe food was really good, I wish I had got a pizza as the size for the price was amazing. The lighting could have been a little less intense and more of a yellow hue opposed to the white one that it was. Our server was lovely and all the staff were really nice. I would say the star of the show for me was the baked cheesecake. I have never had anything like it, it was light and fluffy and the base to cheesecake ratio was great. Overall really good value for money and I would recommend.

Apples for Jam
14 High St, MelroseGreat brunch place with amazing hot chocolate and cheese toast with chilli jam!
The only negative is that they run out of the soup which we really wanted to try and it is not dog friendly so we had to sit outside in the cold.

Old Melrose Estate & Holiday Cottages
Old Melrose Estate, MelroseWe've stayed at The Folly twice now and already booked a third holiday. The Folly is gorgeous and cosy with fabulous views down to the river. We've enjoyed walks through the woods and along the river as well as trips further afield as there is plenty to see in the local area. The Old Melrose tea room and antique shop are also worth a visit. A wonderful hidden gem.
