Staff friendly, donation for coffee and tea and according to the other half excellent whisky ? I can certainly recommend the cheese if you aren't a whisky drinker o and cake and Belgian chocolate truffles with Laphroaig they were a gift but didn't make it home

We only booked here because it happened to be open on a Monday night when nothing else was, well what a result, the food was excellent, good portion sizes and a nice selection of dishes. The staff were very friendly and attentive, it felt very relaxed, the staff were happy to chat about how the place came about. We had 2 courses and then shared a pudding and felt completely stuffed! I definitely recommend it, we walked up from Port Ellen which was about 20 mins, I imagine that on a lighter evening there would be quite a lovely view

Bowmore Distillery

The most complete tour of my trip (went to 10 distilleries): could work on the malting floor for some minutes, feed the oven with peat, taste some GREAT whisky directly from the cask (ex red wine 24y, ex bourbon and ex oloroso) and also filled an 100ml bottle of my favorite one from these 3. Amazing experience. I went on november/2023.

Bruichladdich Distillery

Port Charlotte is my fav whiskey so we decided to visit them for our 3 year anniversary, amongst some other distilleries on Islay.
This visit was worth the whole trip and made me love this brand and whiskey so much more!

1. They were the only place that congratulated us and gave us a mini Dram as a gift.
2. We were the only people booked on that specific tour and they happily accommodated us
3. Katrina was the best tour guide, not only she was super knowledgable, she made everything even more interesting with fun facts and really taking her time to show us why we love Bruichladdich so much!

Oh and we forgot some bottles from another distillery there, Katrina was so observant that she remembered where we are staying and sent someone to drop off these bottles to our hotel's reception! How amazing is this! True hospitality and we couldnt have asked for a better tour and experience at our fav whiskey distillery - Thank you Katrina

Bowmore Hotel Restaurant

Blimey. 1500 different scotches. Peter Jr, you’re a great host and I really enjoyed our visit. I’ll be back again another year to view your whiskey bible and try some new drams. Good food. Lovely atmosphere. Amazing hospitality.

The Ardview Inn

Still closed, no information on building about if it is going to re open. Hours on Google maps totally inaccurate.
Updated review May 2024 and this is now a friendly local pub and well worth visiting. No food and you are not allowed to take food in unfortunately but good for a drink ?. Very nice staff and good selection of drinks especially whisky.

We didn't eat pizza though
A surprising antipasti with seasoned local bread
The house salad is fresh and well seasoned
And a pasta dish - a ringtone with Scottish style brownies.

An amazingly friendly place with homemade soup to die for. Great views over the bay. If you judge eateries by their rest rooms here they are both modern and extremely clean. Im here for 2 weeks and will certainly be returning.

On top of some truly DELICIOUS food, the young gentleman fielding phone calls and take away orders at the counter was wonderful. We sat next to a table that was bombarding him with questions and he answered every single one with patience and kindness, and exemplified an "above and beyond" attitude. If/when we visit Islay again, we will absolutely be returning here. ?
