The Mad Hatters Tearooms
ColdstreamHad cream tea for 3 of us. The scones were warm and beautifully light. The couple who run it are lovely and the atmosphere of all things Mad Hatter was fun. They accommodated a full age range from children (high chair provided) to the more mature amongst us. The whipped cream was fresh and the coffee and tea were good and served in proper old fashioned china.
The menu for other food looked great with good old fashioned home cooking and a few more contemporary twists on old favourite dishes.
Hint: one scone is more than enough and fills you up for the day.
Well worth a visit.
Parking: On street parking and parking in Henderson Park car park and down on Market Square.

Besom Inn
77 High St, ColdstreamAs an Ex Coldstream Guard, the visitors book choked me up a bit. Seeing the names of the old and bold who had visited before was emotional. The food and service were exemplary, and I can't wait to visit again when I come back to see the museum.

Golden Valley
24-26 High St, ColdstreamI am very impressed with the attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients. The spring rolls were crispy and golden, packed with a delicious filling that had the perfect balance of spices. The fried rice was fluffy and fragrant, complementing the main dishes perfectly. Even the sauces were spot on – rich, flavourful, and clearly made with care.
I can’t recommend Golden Valley enough! Whether you're a fan of classic dishes or looking to try something new, this place has something for everyone. It’s easily the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had in a long time, and I will definitely be ordering again soon!
