Restaurants in Biggar

The Fryery
110 High St, BiggarThe food is top tier but I can never decide between the fish (sadly not Cod but once you taste it you won't care) or the sausage which is the greatest I have ever had not made by my dear old Mum. The staff are dlightful and the locals friendly.

The Barony
55 High St, BiggarIm in 2 minds about this. Just left and staff are very accommodating. Service a little slow. Had the duck dish and incredibly disappointed! The duck was overcooked and they would have known this when carving! it wasnt pink at all... the texture was similar to pork! A massive sin! Duck should be soft, tender and very pink in the middle. The accompanying cherry sauce was lacking in punch too. Fish and chips were ok/good. Dessert also good. All in all an 'OK' experience but not one i would rave about or recommend. Sorry.

K-wok Chinese Take Away
154 High St, BiggarK-wok, is far better than what you would expect in a small town in the Scottish Borders, it's easy to understand the long waiting times at weekends when the food is this good

The Big Red Barn Company
South Melbourne Farm, Elsrickle,, BiggarTook the family for lunch recently. Really enjoyed the tagliatelle, with home made by Errington Cheese, crowdie, and beautiful squash plus hazelnuts, which combined for a delicious experience. My difficult to please son had the Italian sausage rarebit, which came on a brioche base. Again, unexpected combination of flavours was delicious. Sadly, we were driving so no wine for us, but a good selection on offer. Also interesting was the cheese pairing menu which included suggestions for a small piece of cheese (nearly all Errington) and interesting, high quality accompaniments. Gingerbread, honeycomb and fig jam being some. Although it was a busy afternoon and the restaurant was full, tge service was very smooth and efficient with friendly knowledgeable staff.
All in all, a great experience.
