Scottish Steakhouse
Craggan More Rd, Dalfaber Dr, AviemoreWe came there by chance in a group. Without a reservation it wasn't a problem. At the beginning we were told about the staffing problem with 1 chef at that time, but we only had to wait 10 minutes for starters and the main courses didn't take long to arrive. The service was extremely friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes. It was great for us tourists. The food was mega ?, the portions were huge, and the fish and chips barely fit on the plate. The soup of the day (carrot-orange) was also so fine and large that it was almost enough. We would all go there again and can highly recommend it.

The Winking Owl, Craft Ale Pub & Bar
123 Grampian Rd, AviemoreWe come up to Aviemore every year and drop in to the Winking Owl ? every time.
It’s a great little place.
This year was sadly a little bit different. There was a lack of Ale options. Just one single ale called Wildcat which is a very nice pint but I’d expect more options from a pub that has craft ale pub in their description.
The food and service was good as normal but this time I tried the sticky toffee pudding which appeared to be have been heated up in the microwave. It was a bit of a dampener on the meal in general.

Tamanna Indian
43 Grampian Rd, AviemoreSimply outstanding! We did not expect to find a pearl like this in Aviemore, but agreed once we'd tasted the main course that this is probably the best restaurant in all of Aviemore. We have had curry in most major towns across Scotland and this was easily among the best Indian we've ever had. Fresh, well made and super tasty. The staff was welcoming, accomodating and friendly. I'd give it a 10/10, but this one goes to 11!

Skiing Doo Restaurant
9 Grampian Rd, AviemoreWe visited the Ski ing doo today, New Years Day 2024 to find a contender for the most ridiculous pub rule of all time. This really has a shot at the title. Before I go any further this is a really good pub with a great atmosphere. After enquiring if we could order food we were advised and I quote “We are a dog friendly pub so you can only eat in this area if you have a dog. If you don’t have a dog you need to go to the restaurant upstairs”. We were surrounded by groups of up to around 6 who were enjoying the fine food on offer as they had one dog between them. Unfortunately we collectively didn’t have a dog therefore we couldn’t eat. Love to hear a more ridiculous rule than this.

High Range
Grampian Rd, AviemoreJust a short walk to the main town. The room was clean and updated. The room was a little noisy and we could hear the travellers next door to us which wasnt great. We went with two twin beds because their king size is more like a full or queen. If you want a large bed you need to get a superior king. No biggie at all but now we know for the rest of Europe. The receptionist showed us the room before booking it which was nice. There is a bike rental shop down the road and we walked to the Old Bridge Inn for dinner.
Rooms: The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. The windows open and they give you extra pillows in the rooms. The bathroom shower stall is a bit small for larger people so I would keep that in mind.
Nearby activities: There is plenty to do in Aviemore. The town is a quick walk. There is a bike rental shop down the street. The Cairngorm national park is close by. Also there is a national preserve next door. Something for everyone in this outdoorsy town. Glad we got off the train for it.
Safety: Felt safe in and around the hotel.
Walkability: It's not in the strip but it's not too far either. We walked from the train stop, and walked the strip. Close enough to restaurants and attractions.

The Chippy
6 Granish Way, AviemoreReally nice fish and chips, maybe because I'm used to London prices it seemed good value for money. Also, free tartar sauce so can't complain. Fish seemed to be fresh and it wasn't too greasy either.

Cobbs Cafe
High Street, AviemoreFriendly staff, really reasonably priced menu and decent coffee. Looks small but has more seating upstairs. Dogs allowed downstairs and there is seating outside too.Parking: Parking on the street but during the busy season you'd need to park in Tescos or 5 mins along the road.

Rowan Tree Country Hotel & Restaurant
Loch, Alvie, AviemoreI would rate this as the least good value for money accommodation of our tour of Scotland. It was also the smallest room though the room was otherwise good except for it being mildly annoying that it vibrated whenever a large vehicle drove past. The food we had was stunningly good. Even though we enjoyed a great gourmet meal elsewhere the night before we arrived, I would say that the Rowan Trees aubergine rolls were the culinary highlight of our Scotland tour. We were surprised that when we arrived we were only offered breakfast times between 8.30 and 9am even though I pressed for something earlier. When we came down at 8.30 the table wasn't ready so we had to wait a short while even then. Fortunately this just meant that we arrived later than planned at our first stop, but on other days of our tour it would have mean missing breakfast altogether.

Cairngorm Hotel, 77 Grampian Rd, AviemoreThe quality of the food and standard of service is the best you will get in Aviemore and surrounding area
Food and drinks: You can't pre-book a table but wait time is well managed and once seated service is excellent. The food choices are fantastic alot of restaurants in Aviemore seem to specialise in burgers whereas the Cairngorm has a great selection to suit everyone. Food is fresh, tasty and generous portions

the Balavoulin
125 Grampian Rd, AviemoreGood little hotel in Aviemore. The rooms are small, but have everything you need and are clean. The breakfast was excellent! No buffet but you could choose from the typical Scottish breakfast dishes. The staff was also very friendly and explained everything essential during check-in. The dinner offered was also very tasty. The price is also absolutely right. There were sufficient parking spaces available.
