The Eating Plaice
44 High St, AlnessOne of the best fish & chips I’ve ever had! The fish was of excellent quality, and the batter was very crispy! The fries were great, and the sauce was very tasty! The staff and the owner were super friendly and served us even though it was late and they were close to closing. A must-stop for anyone passing by, and thanks again!! ???

Cafe Picante
54 High St, AlnessDear Guests!!!We recommend !!!! From my sincere heart ❤️❤️❤️ and I must admit that it's hard to please us because we have very delicate and demanding palates ???Thank you very much for your hospitality and the culinary experience you gave us. This is a family-run, small and atmospheric restaurant in northern Scotland! It is located in the small town of Alness...Delicious dishes of a high standard. Dishes composed exquisitely! Service at the highest level, competent, professional and nice. The quality and taste of the dishes, the way they are served and the service are second to none... A wonderful place, I recommend it to everyone and always. The owners are so nice, you won't leave hungry...

Harry Gow Bakery - Alness
47 High St, Ross-ShireAn excellent bakery that was so friendly one of the ladies even said she hopes I make my bus, which was very thoughtful of them! And that’s with me speaking to them in my very obviously English accent
The ham and cheese panini was one of the nicest I’ve had in years, plenty of melted cheese in large bread, even accommodated for my request to have both cheddar and mozzarella instead of make me choose one. I also had a breakfast roll and that was very nice too.
I can certainly see why they won an award for top Scottish bakers in 2019-2020! Unfortunately I cannot be a regular customer since I currently live in Oxfordshire, England. But I know I would 100% return to any of their branches like Inverness and Elgin as well as Alness and any others they may have, certainly a far better alternative to the god awful Greggs that dominates my English homeland nationwide!
