The place has friendly staff and a nice environment.<br><br>The food though was an issue, starters sent back twice as they where undercooked, the roasts where okay, a bit flavourless, chicken seemed stringy and dry, beef was okay but again stringy and just cooked.<br><br>All mains seemed abit rushed, which is a shame was they was not that busy.<br><br>Deserts where good.<br><br>All in all I would go to The wig and pen again but probably...read full review

Another Northampton bar overwhelmed by not realising how many Munster fans would travel but at least this one had enough drinks and glasses!<br><br>Staff were friendly but they didn't have enough so wait times at the bar were lengthy.<br><br>Great selection of drinks, all my favourites were available.<br><br>Music was good but very loud. Many years ago I played in a Goth band and performed in this pub - which was then very much a spit-and-sawdust affair. Now, though, it is a very nice and cosy place - completely transformed. Recommended - particularly for the weekend evenings where great live music is on offer..
