We only went to the pub, not the hotel, so can't really comment, but the pub is lovely and the service is very good. We only had a sandwich and a cup of tea, the young barman was very friendly and helpful. Great place to stop off on the way to Scarborough.

Whilst holidaying at Runswick Bay we decided on a trip to Butterfly World and spotted The Cross Keys on the way there, so on the way back we decided to pop in for a meal, which I'm glad we did. We were greeted and seated with pleasant ease & banter.
