Decent local pub, the pick of Cuckfield (and possibly Haywards Heath as well). Good local beer, and a tasty Timmy Taylor Landlord as well. Food was great, some excellent starters (local smoked mackerel and cheese bake was brilliant) and varied mains. A step up from good pub food. Service was strong and competent. Only complaint was the wine list mark-up. Our bottle, a nice Cabernet, was 4x which is a bit steep. Spend with tip, no desert, was £60 a head.
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic meal at The Talbot. We shared a camambert which came with a generous amount of bread as well as 'the Talbot burger' which followed for mains. It was exceptional. The staff were very pleasant, I was greeted by the young blonde manager who served us throughout the meal. Really not one to leave a bad review, I often visit this pub but feel leaving this review is constructive for improvement to be made.<br>On the weekend I came for dinner, we were left 35minutes after being seated before we even had our drinks order taken! Then a further 15min waiting for the drinks.
