The Red Lion
The Square, Eynsham, WitneyThis pub continues to be a real gem and we are grateful to have it in our locality. We live in a nearby next village, which has no pub or shop sowe very much value having this pub a short bus ride away.
The menu has recently been updated and provides plenty of choice for all tastes. We had two small plates, the lamb koftas and crispy beef, to start and both were delicious. The portions are a good size and dishes nicely presented.
Our mains were fish and chips and the bean burger. Both excellent. There were plenty of other options we fancied, not least the confit duck leg, so we will be back soon to try some more! The prices represent good value for money which is an important factor for us.
The service here is always friendly, welcoming and efficient.
Being a CAMRA Membership I will also mention the cask ales. Well kept and a good variety. Last night there was a local stout by XT brewery, another local brew, Gunners Gold by Loose Cannon and also Timothy Taylor's Landlord. I opted for the Gunners Gold which was beautifully clear, bright and very moreish!! There is also a very good variety of lagers and gins.
Thanks very much to all the team for a super evening out.

Cambodian Cuisine at the Carpenters Arms
132 Newland, WitneyTime and time again it never fails to impress with its scrumptious cuisine. I can definitely recommend the seitan as I substitute for meat to any of you veggies out there and the avocado spring rolls are simply divine. 64A Corn St, WitneyWent to the comedy night and it didn't disappoint. It was a brilliant night and the comedians were so funny. The staff there were so nice and helpful. It was lovely that outside it was so hot but lovely and cool inside with the air con on.
Will definitely be going to the comedy loft again. It's on the first Thursday of every month. Best laugh I've had in a long time. Would recommend it.

Shaan Restaurant
12 Corn St, WitneyWent for a Friday night birthday meal. Really attentive staff who kept our glasses well topped up. They also accommodated to my veganism. Felt a little much at times, and towards the end we felt like they were very much trying to get us out quickly.
Food was delicious. Very well presented. The vegetable sides and rice's could have been hotter both temperature wise and spice wise. Maybe next time I'll add for more chilli as the deal bhaji and gobi bhaji would have benefited from a kick i felt.
Really nice atmosphere and lovely to see a loval business doing well after all these years.

Pizza Express
6 Market Square, WitneyThe pizza dough was the freshest I'd ever had anywhere (and I've eaten a lot of pizzas!) - the service was spot on: even got told about getting the app to get free dough balls. Service was quick, all our food was scrummy, and we even got a Kids Eat Free which meant my two children's meals got deducted from the bill which we weren't even aware of so happy days!

Off The Hook fish and chips and pizza
68 Main Rd, Long Hanborough, WitneyWe come regularly for their great pizza. We like the option to add our own toppings. However, the best thing is the service. The man who makes the pizzas is always cheerful and welcoming and goes beyond to give excellent service. We arrived today just as he was about to close but he put the oven back on and stayed open so we did not miss out on our pizza!!

Apollo food Van (Good Food)
Unnamed Road, Yarnton, WitneyI've awarded this 5 stars because it probably deserves it, but the place keeps being shown in my list and I can't work out how to delete it.
It simply wasn't there!
I stopped at this lay by, yes. I was too early for the nearby caravan site where I had booked and this was handy for a short park up.
There were two chairs and a table at one end, so, obviously, when it's there, it is used, but not on the day I parked.
Parts of the road surface crumbling away but nothing exceptional for this quite large stop over.

I have to say this is probably the best food I have had in a pub for many years.......try the Mackerel, you won't be disappointed (if you like fish). Lunchtime service excellent, a lovely friendly young lady working the bar and all the tables in the busy establishment.
