Blake's Kitchen
The Post Office, Clanfield, Bamptonwe were there for breakfast.
We were outside with our dog.
Ordered inside and then brought to the table.
We ate salmon with scrambled eggs and cinnamon buns with yogurt. plus two coffees and orange juice.
Unfortunately, the cups and substitutes were not clean - as was the cutlery, which you had to take with you inside. The food was extremely tasty and a really large portion.
Parking: When you are late you cant park at the Restaurant

The Horse Shoe
Bridge St, BamptonMy wife and I had called in here on Saturday 16th September to see if we could grab a bite to eat and a drink. Unfortunately at lunchtime they did not do any food but did kindly suggest another local place for us to eat at. After about an hour or so we returned to have a drink in the bar area and relax in what we thought was a superb traditional local pub which just had so much character. One of the locals made us feel very welcome and came over and had a chat with us both for about 10 minutes. He gave us some local history info and mentioned about the village and its links with the tv program Downton Abbey. All in all a very nice visit and if we were ever in the area again we would not hesitate in calling in. Thank you.

Red Lion
High St, Aston, BamptonForget about the negative reviews, the couple have been running it for less than a year. Craig and Mrs run a beautiful wee pub, full of character and dinner was beautifully presented and tasted just delightful. Pity the regulars all seem to think they are snobs or wannabe snobs which is really sad but hey small village big egos. Overall worth every penny and we will go back

Bampton Coffee House
Market Sq, BamptonAfter a walk somewhere to have a coffee before resuming the walk. Nice little coffee house. Not busy in the morning. Probably attracts Downton Abbey tourists (not watched myself).

The Plough Inn Alvescot
Main Rd, Alvescot, BamptonOur new local! Really friendly, welcoming and superb food with great portions. The wine selection is great too. If you haven’t been yet I highly recommend you do- you won’t be disappointed. AND they don’t whack a non negotiable service charge on the bill. A great find.
