Meet an old friend here today for lunch. The perfect place, good character and atmosphere but not noisy, food was excellent as the staff were friendly. I'd have no hesitation in returning.
Great recommendation by our guide for their pies. The slow-cooked steak & ale pie - oh I want more of it! Also had the chicken pie, equally good. Extremely satisfying meal for a very reasonable sum, washed down with ciders. The place is somewhat recessed in an alley, but Wirth seeking out.
Used to be a favourite Oxford pub in my younger days. Early evening on a Sunday and it was food and a drink but not the buzzing place I remember. Probably due to my visit time and not the pub's fault. Great old building worth a visit.
