John Dory Fish Bar

Now I understand why everyone says, "you gotta try the fish 'n chips." The John Dory Fish Bar in South Preston is a takeout-only establishment. I told them it was my first time and asked for their most popular option. They recommended having it with salt and vinegar. The food came straight from the fryer into a cardboard takeout box. I had to wait a bit for it to cool, but it was worth it. I wish this chain was available in the States.

We normally use John Dory on a Friday as a weekend treat however recently portion sizes have gotten progressively worse. Considering how much you pay, they shouldn’t be so stingy with portion sizes of chips. We had fish and chips last night each and we got a tiny portion of chips with each fish which meant we were still hungry afterwards. Great food, large portions, but, Was in there Monday night for pie and chips with salt and vinegar. Got to a place to at it and there was NO salt or vinegar on eithhhher the pies or chips, so, Tueasday night asked for EXTRA salt and vinegar. The order duly arrived, asked if it had the apropriate condiments added and was told it had. Got to a place to eat again, AND, NO SALT OR VINEGAR AGAIN.
