Simmons isn't a bland national chain... or an overly expensive 'cute' cafe. It occupies a middle ground of cakes, teas and backed goods that are affordable, without the blandness that comes from national chains. It has a lovely location on HowardsGate. Visited on a Sunday for coffee and cake. Now, I’ve always loved Simmons for that ‘traditional’ bakery experience. And the food is always nice, expensive but almost always worth it. However, the restaurant/sit down area is badly managed. Out of the 11 free tables (it wasn’t busy at all) all were filthy.
