Quaint popular cake and pastry shop in the centre of Bakewell. Visited last week and was surprised at how quiet it was for Friday mid pm. We had the cream tea x2 at £8 each. It was ok but definitely had better value elsewhere. The scones were a bit dry and crumbly but tasty enough. Staff very pleasant and it’s a nice enough place to spend half an hour in the afternoon.
The Bakewells are great, but the lack of jam takes away a star. The jam is a crucial part of a Bakewell, and yet there's so little in there that I can only taste the delicious pastry and almonds. It's disappointing. The jam is nice; we just need more of it. That would definitely make waiting in a 25-minute queue more worthwhile.
This sounds a little negative but I'd visit again without hesitation<br>Up stairs restraunt a little cramped but good other than that, all the food "looked" to have been prepared in house except they were using these U shaped chips that are less chip and more U (looks loads but more is in-fact less).<br>So 3 for the chips 5 for everything else food wise.<br>Great little bakery down stairs
