The Spread Eagle
Caunton Rd, Hockerton, SouthwellVery adaptive staff adjusted the contents of my Wife's sandwich and were very attentive whilst we ate. Great food, friendly staff, fabulous places to sit by a fire. Definitely made this a place we come to on our way home from the office :)

Sweets of Southwell
34 King St, SouthwellI visited here again today. A real old fashioned sweet shop packed to the rafters! I always try and pop in when I'm in Southwell. The staff are always so friendly and chatty...and even humour me when I ask for 'a quarter' of aniseed balls. I can also recommend the ginger mints!

Alfresco Caffe
10 Queen St, SouthwellHaving got shocking non service at a nearby cafe we found this one close by and so glad we did. Great prompt caring courteous service was received! We had the vegan Paninis which were stunning, very different to what I'm used to but perfect for breakfast and really well presented, nice coffee too. I know where in town I will come back too!
Would be great if there were another vgn choice or 2 but happy here anyway.
Dietary restrictions: A few vegan choices for breakfast- well 1 that we could see but the vgn panini was excellent

The Refectory
The Refectory, Church St, SouthwellA lovely spot to visit if you’re in Southwell, right next to Southwell Minster. Abi’s customer service is exceptional, greeting us warmly as we arrived. Nearly every table was full at 1.00pm on a Monday! We found a cosy table for two to celebrate my Dad’s 80th Birhday. Abi was rushed off her feet as the only person on front-of-house but took our order and offered alternatives (fish & chips sold out!) which arrived soon after. We even took a piece of the delicious vegan courgette cake with yummy icing home for later. We got chatting to a very friendly Mum and daughter (with cutest pup) who had dined at the table next to us. Overall, this is one of my Dad’s favourite places to go for lunch. There are always some interesting specials of the day to choose from, the staff are super kind and attentive and the ambience, decor and overall vibe very welcoming and pleasant. Thank you Abi for making it such a lovely day!

Shahi Kebabs
15 King St, SouthwellOur favourite local takeaway. While I do like kebabs, I go for other options here as I think they are better than the kebabs. We love the loaded fries and the pizzas are excellent. I feel like we know all the staff now and they're really friendly and helpful.

Admiral Rodney Southwell
9 King St, SouthwellWe were in town visiting the exhibition at the minster and popped in afterwards for some lunch. Everywhere around seemed busy but we managed to find a table in the pub and the food didn't take too long to arrive which was a pleasant surprise. Staff were friendly. Shame the hot drinks machine was out of order as we needed to warm up on a cold day and the doors were open on the pub so it wasn't overly warm. Food was lovely and hot anyway and reasonably priced for the area, our party enjoyed burgers, scampi and the full English.
