Restaurants in Newark-on-Trent

Gannets Daycafé & Bistrot
35 Castle Gate, NewarkMy favourite place in Newark for delicious, healthy and beautifully prepared food. Gannets provides a great range of hot and cold drinks, gorgeous cakes made on the premises, and wonderful lunches featuring Gannets' famous salads and quiches. A lot of the food is vegetarian or suitable for vegans.
I especially recommend the amazing flapjack, full of sumptuous dried fruits, the gluten free lemon bar and the filled potato skins.
Look out too for the beautiful floral displays in the front window.
There is no ground floor loo, although there is a Changing Places fully accessible loo just across Castlegate at the back of the Registry Office.

The Coffee Chain

Knots Bar & Restaurant
Farndon Marina, N End, NewarkKnots bar has top class pub grub, it's just a shame you cannot get to it off the toe path, as farndon marina has fenced it off and the gate is fob only.I was asked how to get to it by passing people they decided just to go to the next bar on the toe path as it was easier.

Jenny's Cafe
55A London Rd, New Balderton, NewarkSausage: 4.0 – You beauty! Two girthy, delicious, coarse-filled crackers. These are proper butcher quality without a doubt, leagues above your regular cafe banger. Herby with Actual Pieces Of Meat, no tubes of wallpaper paste here, splendid.\n\nOther Ingredients: 3.5 - Big slices of buttered toast came out first and made me wonder if I'd get even halfway through this breakfast. HB not crispy due to a fried egg overcoat. Beans and mushrooms standard but plentiful and piping hot, as was the rest of this plateful. Thick bacon was cooked how I like but with the slightest hint of bacon *****. Two lovely runny yolks helped the dryer bits and bobs slip down the gullet nicely. \n\nStaff & Stuff: 3.5 - Two friendly ladies provided the table service. Smiley and chatty, it certainly helps improve the visit. Just five tables in this place, small but perfectly formed and spotlessly clean. Tea in a branded mug is a nice touch, more infant school cutlery though.\n\nVFM: 4.0 – £9.70 for this lovely plate of tasty fried yumminess in pleasant, welcoming surroundings. Everything in the picture included in the price, ask for the Big Builder's Breakfast.\n\nTotal: 15 out of 20

Brownhills Cafe
A1, A46, NewarkJust needed a quick late lunchtime sandwich. The choice was pretty poor as they were down to their last half dozen. We just accepted what they had and in fact, they turned out to be excellent sandwiches with generous fillings. Not too expensive either.

Oscar's Inn
105 Balderton Gate, NewarkIf I have not left a review before it’s because I didn’t really know how to then.
Oscar’s is an excellent pub and much more..
It’s a little out of the actual centre so serves Newarks community the bulk of which are to the East along London Road.
It’s a total relaxing place with great food and beers and an atmosphere that makes one feel at home but is rather cool.
The owner is a Gentleman who is rather senior but still comes in and takes time to talk to and get to know his customers, always pays for his beer and is generous with his time and hospitality.
When I lived nearby we had my mums wake at Oscars with a rather large family group on a difficult day and they made that bad day better in the great way we were all treated and served to help us through it.
That alone will always make me feel that Oscar’s is great and indeed I miss it being my local pub but like I said it is way more than that if you want somewhere that’s not just another pub.
In Newark there is actually a big difference in what each individual bar or pub offers as most are owned and run by individuals and not big companies.
What a great town to enjoy yourself in.
Best regards

Tasty
22 Bullpit Rd, Balderton, NewarkThis is a lovely little cafe in the middle of Balderton just around the corner from me. I came here with some friends for a brunch. Food was absolutely exceptional and reasonably priced too. For an iced coffee, tuna toastie and a slice of cheesecake, it was just under £11! My only complaint is that the cafe is very small and you can’t fit many people in. There is parking available just outside but just be careful you don’t get blocked in by other inconsiderate drivers. Because of the cafe’s size as well, it isn’t accessible for wheelchair users but there is a seating area outside if it is a pleasant day. Overall, I will be back again as I really enjoyed it here!

The Old Bakery Tea Rooms
4 Queen's Head Ct, NewarkI visited the old bakery on a busy Saturday, and had a great experience. I had the frittata, my daughter had the grilled cheese brioche and my friend had a bacon sandwich, finished off by a slice of freshly baked chocolate cake each (DELICIOUS). You can tell everything is freshly made each day with quality ingredients. This was our first visit but can’t wait to come back again!

The Bean And Vine
5 Market Pl, NewarkPopped in for a quick lunch while in town as saw Home Made soup on menu! Lovely to have a choice - I chose Carrot & Coriander which was really tasty, and came with generous helping of crusty brown bread. Neighbouring table had the Broccoli soup, and she seemed to like that too!
Very pleasant service too

Morrisons Cafe
King's Rd, NewarkUsed many times over the years. The staff on shift always manage to get the food out quickly and efficiently and they are always polite and helpful. The only downside is there seems to have been a hike in the prices across all products. Other than that it's seems to be a well run little supermarket cafe. Better than Asda cafe for sure
