Bouchon Bistrot
Bouchon Restaurant Ltd, Gilesgate, HexhamIn terms of quality, value and atmosphere, this is by far our favourite restaurant in Northumberland. The food is always excellent - we have visited 4 times now and the food has been perfect every time - the scallops are especially good. The staff are so accommodating and friendly, we’ve been served by Millie mostly and she can’t do enough. I’d particularly like to highlight the fact that we mentioned that the brand of water being used contained fluoride and there were better options available; the next time we visited they had actually changed the water to the brand we suggested! We couldn’t believe it, that small touch really made us feel at home and we are so appreciative (usually because we have had the odd look for pointing those sort of things out). In summary, this restaurant is 10 out of 10 and we can’t wait to go back.

Restaurant Hjem
The Hadrian Hotel, Front St, Wall, HexhamHave been fortunate enough to visit Hjem on 2 separate occasions and both were equally superb. Both times we stayed over, the first in a small/basic double room about the restaurant, and second time in one of the fantastic lodges over the road. The lodge in particular was excellent with a great selection of complimentary treats provided.
The bar in the restaurant is very welcoming with a great selection of drink options available.
Dinner on both occasions has been superb, as good as I've ever eaten. Service is wonderful, with real care and attention shown but never feeling too formal/stuffy. Every member of staff really cares about the service with the chef and team even serving dishes and speaking to the customers.
The wine pairing is excellent value and really adds to the experience.
Breakfast is fantastic with a great Scandi style spread - a lovely change to typical British fayre.
We would definitely return again and look forward to doing so.

Tesco Cafe
Tynedale Retail park, Alemouth Rd, HexhamFood was lovely and staff were really helpful and friendly. We were served by John who was really good at both his job and making us feel welcome. He got on well with our 10 year old and shared a good level of banter with us and him.

Bridge End, Hexham Services, Off Rotary Way, HexhamLast Saturday I went into subway to grab a quick bite for lunch with my family. We were met by quick service and friendly staff. One staff member who stood out the most was a girl who’s name I believe was Kayshia. She was polite and made great conversation and on top of that had our order done quickly. I can only describe her as the best subway sandwich artist. Five stars from me.

There was plenty of food for 12 gbp that I have paid, but the taste - it didn’t really have any taste. It was more to make stomach full, and there were no other places to order from in the area.

Bellingham, HexhamStumbled across this lovely pub while out for a drive yesterday afternoon looking for somewhere for a Sunday dinner and so glad we stopped here as the food was delicious and will be back again very soon for more didn’t get a before picture as couldn’t wait to dive in but the after picture shows there was no food wasted as it was too tasty ?????

The pub is very comfy and clean with a very nice log burner making the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The only downside is they are cash only but the ? is only a very short walk away. There is also a pool table, darts and outdoor seating.
Parking: Approximately 10 spaces plus approx 4 disabled parking spaces.
Kid-friendliness: Children that were in the pub were well behaved and made welcome. The rather large dog was also very well behaved and friendly but didn't pester anyone.
Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance to the pub is level. Unfortunately the toilets are outside and access isn't great but it is acceptable...

I was solo so had chow mien and peking chicken dishes (with boiled rice). Was good. Noodle well cooked. Peking chicken nice and tangy with a little kick. I enjoyed a lot. I read other reviews and was surprised by the negative comments. My experience was good. I would go back again. Only minor negative is that the peking dish only filled half the pot. If sharing the dish than you may feel a little short changed. For me no issue. Prices were fair. Decent quality

The staff are polite and attentive and provide good service.
The background music was pitched at just the right volume which is a pleasant positive.
However, I recommend booking in advance as the Bistro is both popular and busy.
The opening hours could be more generous but that is my only niggle.

Shilling Pot, Stannersburn, HexhamAte here 4 nights ago. The lamb dish and the accompanying red wine jus was one of the best dine out experiences I’ve had. The cooking was just exquisite. The dessert was a 10/10 as well.Pity the front of house staff refused our request of having the fire on in our dining area. Said there was already one on next door, but we weren’t sitting next door, were we. It was a cold night and the hospitality fell a little short for me.
