Tesco Cafe
Station Rd, ThirskI bought my mum 2 sprays of carnations on the 6th November 2019 and she has told me that they still are looking gorgeous and have not wilted to date. What a great purchase they were. My mum is thrilled as they are her favourite flowers and can't believe I got them in a store. Well done Tescos and thank you. Susan Robson

Tea Time Café
Tea Time Cafe, 87 Market Pl, ThirskFirst time I had been in, and came with my mother. We both had a coffee, sandwich, and a bowl of chips. The mocha that I had was just amazing, and just the right size. I had the ham and piccalilli on white. Which came with a lovely salad (delicious dressing - I should have asked what it was!) And crisps. The chips were piping hot and just amazing - I honestly could have eaten my body weight.
The staff were very friendly and the service was prompt and nothing seemed too much trouble.
I think I may have found the new place for me to go and take my family when we're all in Thirsk together.
I would highly recommend coming here, even if it's to just have a coffee and people watch.

White Rose BookCafe
79-81 Market Pl, ThirskCalled in the book shop on a busy, warm day visiting Thirsk Decided the menu look tempting so stayed for a cream tea and a savoury tea. Sat outside in the lovely garden. One of the best cheese scones I’ve had in a long time.

Horsebreakers Arms Inn
Hutton Sessay, ThirskThe barman is an absolute gent. Massive Grimsby supporter which nearly made me drop a star, the man can't understand any other accent than Yorkshire as well which almost made him lose a star.
But his charm and warmness came through and cemented the five stars. Keep up the good work my man!
The pub is an absolute a credit to the caravan club, bring owners together whilst the products served are very good as well.
Ey up lads!

Black Bull
75 Market Pl, ThirskA great pub. We initially went to the wetherspoon across the way but it had sticky tables and no atmosphere.
They had a singer on. It was a great night. The cost of a pint is more than Wetherspoons but not much more. Well worth it. ?

The Gavel Cafe and Bar
Thirsk Rural Business Centre, Blakey Ln, ThirskI'd usually head into the centre of Thirsk and have a Wetherspoons breakfast but did a quick Google search and came across the Gavel Cafe. Large breakfast (three bacon, sausage, two eggs, beans, mushrooms, toast) was huge and probably one of the only times I couldn't clear my plate. Breakfast and large coffee came to only £8.75, which must be better valve than Spoons. The cherry on the top is it's dog friendly. Don't know if this place has recently opened or I've just missed it but I'll definitely be back.

Thomas the Baker
30 Market Pl, ThirskCalled in at 7.30am in the morning for one of my favourite vegetable pasties and I luckily received a piping hot one straight from the oven. The woman behind the counter was very friendly, I really cannot fault Thomas the baker for value and quality it's always my preferred option to that other big bakery chain!

Land & Sea Fish And Chips
3 Back Ln, Sowerby, ThirskThe fish and chips here are the best you can eat, without exaggerating!! They use generous portions of very fresh cod and the chips are crunchy and not at all greasy but fried perfectly. Mushi peas are highly recommended because they are tasty and not overly liquid. All the staff are very courteous and very nice. All this without spending a lot.

Upstairs Downstairs
25-27 Market Pl, ThirskAs you come out of the James Herriot building walking towards the square this is the first Cafe you'll come to. You can't miss it on the corner and it's blue and white exterior. The shop is downstairs and the cafe is upstairs. There's a large menu for a small cafe with a lot of choice. I went for a Coronation chicken with mango that came with an onion Bhaji, crisps and fresh salad. Excellent value for £8. It took me a while to eat it all and it was very tasty. It was a really nice place with quick service and very good value for money.

The Angel at Topcliffe
Long St, Topcliffe, ThirskAfter moving house we decided to drop in at The Angel on the off chance for Sunday lunch and, despite being very busy, they went out of their way to accommodate us. Lovely friendly staff without exception. Clean, cozy and welcoming surroundings - the transformation since the refurb is amazing. And the food was absolutely top notch, I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu. Also a good selection of well kept real ales served in spotlessly clean glasses - a trivial point but it demonstrates the attention to detail that shone through in our visit. Thankyou.

Hung Moey
60 Market Pl, ThirskAbsolutely gorgeous food. The best Chinese food we've ever had. I had Kung Pao chicken and it was perfect. My partner had Special Chow Mein and it was perfect. Our 7 year old wanted an English dish of sausage, egg and chips and it was perfect, even her gravy was special with carrot and mangetout in it. This food is beyond good.

Crown & Anchor
138 Front St, Sowerby, ThirskWhat a fab "local" with a great atmosphere. Friendly staff, beer garden and lots of nooks and crannies. Ideal for a quick solo pint, watching the match with the mates or a full evening session. There is a focus on horse racing, a pool table and best of all the prices are very reasonable. Can't comment on the food as I haven't dined there. Well worth a visit
