We're staying nearby this week and had a fantastic meal on Wednesday and found out that Thursday was "Pie Night" so went back again!
We all had a great size portion of homemade pie, chips and peas and the meal was absolutely fabulous-the meat just melted in our mouths!
You need to go for a meal but especially on "Pie Night"

The Rowe House, Settle

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Rowe House for a couple of nights, in order to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The owners of this B&B are extremely welcoming and run a very well oiled machine with thoughful touches throughout, which makes for a very comfortable stay. The room we stayed in was immaculate and the bed comfortable, with great views of the surrounding countryside. The location is great for hiking and within less than 2 mins of walking, you are directly on the three peaks loop trail and ready to go.

The owners kindly made us a superb packed lunch for our day out on the trail, which kept us energised for the challenge. They even laid on an early breakfast for us, as we were hitting the trail super early one morning. Breakfast the next day was great, with a selection of items on offer including a full yorkshire breakfast, bagels, eggs and more. We were able to customise to our liking, which was perfect. As a bonus they also had great french press (cafetière) coffee. I have travelled to a lot of places and for some reason it seems hard for hotels to provide good coffee, but that is not the case here!

We left wishing we actually had more time to spend here. We would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious place to stay while hiking in the Yorkshire Dales region.

Rooms: Luxuriously appointed, comfortable beds, clean, nice bathroom

Nearby activities: Hiking trails, pubs, railway station

Safety: Very safe and quiet

Walkability: Right on the three peaks trail, close to other trails, close to railway station, close to pubs and cafes in the village

Food and drinks: Great full breakfast with lots of options. Owners can make packed lunches for your hiking. Great tea and coffee.

Noteworthy details: Parking on site

Amazing pub in fact the best I’ve been to in a long while. Beautiful location and equally as beautiful inside. Lovely beer garden overlooking Stainforth Beck. The sound of the fast running water is amazing. Great selection of quality ale, the decor as full of character and charm and the landlord is very pleasant and friendly. I will be returning to try the food. Beef dripping fish and chips served here and it sound delicious. Very much looking forward to going back to try it. All in all it’s a brilliant pub.

Went with Wife and Dog, the place is very dog and wife friendly. The food was lovely, we had Calamari and Steak and Ale pie. Over the visits we made subsequent to the meal we got to know the staff and really bonded with them and they are instrumental in creating a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The Head Chef, Sita, was lovely, friendly and a great chef, she came for a chat at the end of her shift. Her co pilot, Jack, was also a great chef and very friendly. Steve, the Bar Manager works hard to keep everything running smoothly. Front of house are Caz, Holly and Devon who all deserve a special mention as it can get really busy especially at the weekend, they were always polite and helpful, they all took a shine to our dog, black labrador Ripley, giving her treats from the bar. In fact, after a few days Ripley was actively pulling us towards the pub when we were walking her in the park grounds. To sum up, a lovely, recently renovated premises run by genuinely friendly and courteous staff who make a real difference to the atmosphere and we can't wait to return. Gerry and Ann Hitchen.....and Ripley.
