The Refreshment Rooms

A great place right on the Mersey, great to watch the ships go by and enjoy a pint of excellent beer.
The food is good, but my personal favourite and top recommendation is the traditional Scouse, served with bread and butter. Absolutely outstanding.

There are wonderful vegetarian options too, as these are freshly prepared, please check the website for this week's vegetarian options.

My first visit was Thursday 10th October, with a large group for a charity event. I am gluten and lactose intolerant, so eating out can be a huge problem, so I normally avoid social events like this. However, the staff are knowledgeable about exactly what goes into each dish, they are very patient whilst dealing with all the questions I had, they are friendly and made the whole experience truly wonderful. The food is excellent, and for once I didn't feel left out, as I could eat the same food as everyone else! Another night out with the same group is planned for December, and I can't wait!!

Yiamas Greek Taverna

Food was absolutely amazing as always, reasonably priced and huge portions.staff work very hard. The only think that was off putting was people smoking by the door so made the place stink of ciggies.maybe a designated smoking area a bit away from the windows/doors would be helpful

Pesto at the Dibbinsdale Inn

Excellent choice for breakfast among many options available. All good and plentiful. Tea and coffee service with kettle in the room and delicious English biscuits. Cleaning. Quiet location surrounded by greenery even if facing the road.

Kings Arms

This pub has gone so much better since the new landlord and landlady Kane and jess have taken over. They are welcoming , friendly and have changed the atmosphere greatly here. The food is also great ... well done guys. Highly recommended ?

Thai Rooster Kitchen

Wonderful desserts and breads. The service is wonderful. We have come back every time we visit from Canada and it is great to see the gentleman serving us. So professional and charming! If I could give 10 stars, I would!

Always choose Shell fuel, its so much better for your engine than most of the others. My local fuel station, so use it all the time. staff are always friendly, shop is small but well stocked, and the forecourt has all the usual facilities (air and water) . loses a star as out of the 150+ times of using this station, my credit card was cloned once. I believe the young lad on duty at the time was eventually sacked though.

Update - the last few times I have ordered from Captain Tony’s the food has been exceptional. I appreciate you taking my feedback onboard. Thank you. I have increased my star rating to take this into account.

I have gone to Captain Tony’s, regularly for years. Their pizza is my favourite by far.
Massive problem is their fries. They are very inconsistent in quality. Sometimes they are exceptional, but other times they are awful.
I ask now for them to make them crispy, but the last 3 times I’ve ordered them, I’ve had to throw them in the bin. They were disgusting. Sloppy and undercooked. Does your chips chef not try their food before giving it to us paying customers?
I hate to do awful reviews, especially when I love their pizza, but the fries are just as important and at over £3 a portion, I’m fed up, even asking hasn’t improved their quality. How can you get it so wrong??

The Sea Dog

I play for the sea dog ladies darts team. We have a large room with no TV or snooker table in it... The service at the bar is top notch. What's not to like.

A lovely cafè with a great atmosphere. It is always busy. I'm sure if the premises where bigger, it would still be busy. Everytime my husband & I go in there, the staff are always friendly & very helpful. 10/10. So lucky for it to be near to where we live. It's our Sunday treat whether we're having just a coffee ☕ or something to eat ???☺

Wimpy

We ate in and had a fish burger and a breakfast muffin. The staff obviously care a lot about providing great service and there’s a really nice feel- it’s more like a friendly local cafe than a big chain. The food was really nice and was cooked fresh to order. Would definitely reccomend. Thank you

We went as a group of three, nan and two boys.
They loved the food, best prawn crackers we've ever had. The staff were friendly and made it a special experience for us all.

Dine India

Food beautiful as allways I go there often but staff are quite rude. I rang an order through he was taking my order then took some fellas order from the shop left me waiting bout 4 minutes and they constantly hassle you for cash only I get that I allways try to pay by cash but they send you the cash machine when they has card machine.

Eastern Delight (Birkenhead)

been going to this chip shop for over 35 years ----doesnot that say something-----never had a burnt chip love their ribs and meal no 2 is a bargain-----lots of meat and rice for more than 4 people even though its supposed to serve 2-----staff are brill---

Well presented. Friendly staff. Some difficulties parking. But this is to be expected as it is in the centre of Birkenhead town centre just off the roundabout heading up Argyle Street.

Best chips, fish, scallops ever. Chippy tea for a family birthday and it didn't disappoint at all, hot fresh and perfectly cooked. It's my favourite fish and chip shop. I also like the fact you can choose your fish via type and they are transparent with the prices. Fish and chip special is only £6 ..worth it every time.

Vegetarian options: There is a board with the options which is updated as they sell out, they also do milkshakes now. They do 2 types of gravy for veggies like myself.

Nemesis Coffee Shop

Lovely cooked breakfast, generous portions, especially tomato, beans & mushrooms.
