Farmer Brown's Ice Cream
Woodrow Farm, Huttoft, AlfordWe visited as a family and met friends there. It was quite busy but the staff moved tables so we could all sit together as they did for others. The food and ice creams were lovely and the children enjoyed the play area. Couldn't have asked for more.
Vegetarian options: Meat free breakfast was very tasty and good value
Kid-friendliness: My children love the outside area

The Jolly Friar
1 Church St, AlfordWe recently had the pleasure of fish and chips at the Jolly Friar in Alford, and what a trip down memory lane it was! The fish and chips were so crisp, you could hear the crunch over the wireless. The fish was flakier than the ration book promises, and the chips—well, they were the perfect shade of golden brown, just like a freshly pressed ARP warden's uniform.
Now, let's talk about the spam fritters. It's not every day you come across a delicacy that reminds you of both the best and worst of the Blitz. These little beauties took me right back to the days when spam was king, and tinned peaches were a luxury! The fritters were fried to perfection, with just the right amount of grease to make you feel like you're doing your bit for the war effort.
Just be sure to bring a healthy appetite and a sense of humour, because after a plate of their fish and chips, you'll be more stuffed than an evacuee's suitcase.

The George Inn
17 High St, AlfordFound it very friendly menu a bit sparce as they were waiting delivery but at least we got a lunch could do with not cooking pies as much as we're a bit hard round edges. Please take this as a suggestion not a criticism but a little more filling in pies would not go amiss but all in all very friendly and helpful see you next time we are in Alford.
Parking: Plenty of spaces
Wheelchair accessibility: Go in rear of pub and there was a good wheel chair ramp

The Vista at The Boatshed
Unnamed Road, AlfordGreat place to pop in for a snack and a quick rest. Seats are inside, outside and a roof terrace. Often call in if I'm out on the 'bike and in the area for the obligatory bacon sarnie and tea, both of which are excellent. They've lots to scoff, many cakes and coffee. Call in, you'll like it.

The Red Lion Hotel
Main Road, Withern, AlfordThe Red Lion is a good pub to go to in a nice setting. The owners are very friendly and do there upmost to keep it looking nice. We need to support this pub. It has been shut for far too long with the Covid, highly recommended.

Waggon and Horses
Main Rd, LouthBeautiful food and really great service. My son had an autistic meltdown while we were in the restaurant and the lovely owner and staff couldn’t have been kinder. The chef made a special dish for my other son as he wanted a vegetarian pasta dish and there wasn’t one on the menu. We will definitely be back, can’t recommend highly enough ?

Mr Pizza
127 West St, AlfordWas staying in Alford as we were visiting things nearer to the coast, this place was a shining beacon in the night after some drinks, especially as most of Alford shuts early. The pizzas were really damn good, they didn't cost the earth too. The fellow who served us was very nice.
