Yesterday evening we had the perfect dinner at the Basil and Co. If you spend some time in Whitstable, you shoudn't leave without booking a table there, to enjoy authentic, delicious italian cuisine. We were impressed by the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, the stunning taste and fantastic presentation of the dishes. Thank you, to the whole team, for this great evening.

Porto has the largest selection of Ports-by-the-glass in the UK. 46 I believe. They do 'port tastings' as well. So, it's possible to do a number of tastings of White, Ruby and Tawny Port, EACH IF THEM DIFFERENT - which I've attempted.
Couple this with some delicious snacks (chicken & chorizo my favourite) and you are definitely set for a delightful evening.
The service is tremendous, too.
It's a bit pricey, but certainly worth the price.
The atmosphere is very pleasant. I can't put my finger in why this is so, but it's a lovely place to be.
To be certain if a seat, you need to book.
A lovely place. I shall be there tonight.

Harbour Street Tapas

We visited Whitstable this weekend and had heard of Harbour Street Tapas on Instagram, so made a beeline for the restaurant last night.

We were not disappointed.

The atmosphere was fantastic from the minute we walked through the doors, and was matched by friendly service and amazing food.

My only complaint was that I couldn’t fit more in, so I could try more of the dishes!

Will definitely be back

You go for breakfast in a cafe that you walked past on the way back from the harbour the evening before. What a wonderful place . I live in Hastings if we had a café near our house like this I'd move in. 10 out of 10. . And 5 stars ? I review loads on here and rarely give a 5 ?

I consider myself a bit of a roast dinner connoisseur… and tbh I’m usually disappointed with the roasts restaurants have to offer, but…. The roast here was fabulous! Each element was delicious but the roast potatoes were epic, and the red cabbage (usually I hate this) was delicious! Also the staff were great, especially our servers Teagan and Rosie!!! We will be returning!!

We were recommended this restaurant and visited on a wet and windy friday evening. The staff were outstanding. The lady who welcomed us to our table was so sweet and the guy from Manchester was fantastic! The tapas were all very tasty. The lamb croquettes and mackerel were outstanding. I couldn't fault a thing we were served. I really can't wait to go back.

Superb Michelin star restaurant. We had the lunch time taster menu & every course was a delight. The setting is a little surprising but everything was faultless once inside. The staff are well informed and explained each course as it was served.
They have a conservatory where I saw people with their dog. This is a bonus to me & will mean that we can return with our pet.

I called into this pub while I was in the area from my hometown of Deal. The local carnival had recently finished, and my Real Ale app said the dark ale, Powder Burn from the Musket brewery, was available. What a pint and my sort of pub (it just lacked the wood shavings). The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere lovely with live music too! No food consumed, hence no stars. It's worth a visit if you want to rub your 0shoulder's with friendly people.

I was paying a visit to my Mum who is staying at Whitstable House Care Home and came upon this fine looking eatery on the High Street… The menu is lush so many tasty sounding items… being a lover of all things gingery I went for the tuna sweetcorn mayo pickled ginger and cucumber baguette , mad sounding combo but utterly delicious. Mr Gilbert is a total Don offering up some of the most courteous service if have ever had the pleasure of. The two ladies in attendance were very charming also.
MyM is likely to be in the care home for a while so it might be time to get some bigger sized trousers!

Apologies for this late review. My wife and I ate in the restaurant a few weeks ago. I am gluten intolerant but I really fancied the monkfish served with a soy and ginger sauce. I enquired whether I could eat the dish safely, the waiter asked the chef whose reply was not as it was normally served. However, the chef offered (and I accepted) to cook the dish to a slightly different recipe. The fish was just stunning to eat, I so enjoyed it. This is a restaurant which goes the extra mile for its customers. I can’t wait to go back again. Roy Saunders

Visited here on a Friday Morning as I was working outside, looks kind of a quirky place to have a cafe within, however do not let that put you off I had the full breakfast and it’s probably the best breakfast I’ve had this year by a country mile £12.50 and that’s with a tea not overly massive but it’s delicious none of that deep fried rubbish like other cafes do. Plenty of seating inside and out the back part also there is an upstairs, it’s like a tardis there. The two ladies were very polite and friendly. Its just situated down from the bakery on the high street definitely worth a visit if your in the area. Wheelchair accessible is a no go in my opinion however each to their own. There’s a car park opposite but apparently it’s expensive.

I was staying very close by and popped in - very glad I did.
Definitely a locals' pub, but in a good way! Lovely vibe and as a newbie I was made to feel welcome. Good choice of drinks and a quirky, characterful place.

Wow what can we say other than thank you for excellent service in the restaurant from the Monument Pub. The server recommended the lamb rump. We asked for new potatoes and other veg which was no problem at all. The food was amazing. Hubby said the best lamb dish ever and I had the the veggie Thai curry..delish.
Well done to this lovely family run pub. It was brilliant. 5 stars to all the staff for being so attentive.
