The George Hotel is a long-standing establishment that has undergone some changes over the years. While it was once a wonderful and enjoyable experience, the current Northern owners have failed to cater to the local touch, resulting in a poor and disconnected atmosphere. The pub is known for its focus on sporty events, particularly football, horse racing, and golf, which can make it exceptionally noisy with no quiet areas for the hard of hearing. The beer selection is limited, with only London Pride and the ubiquitous Doom Bar available, though the London Pride is well-kept. The wine selection is fair, but the prices are marked up, making it cheaper to drink at home. Despite the corporate northern ownership, the staff work hard to serve the customers, though they can be overwhelmed, especially during busy periods like the Friday before Christmas.
