Wheatsheaf Inn
Bridge Rd, YarmouthMy cousin & her family was visiting the Island for the week ... We decided to go out for lunch on the thursday ... I don't eat out very often as I am very allergic to certain foods ... In fact it was only 3rd time doing so in 5 years ... I told the barman when ordering our food that I was allergic to certain foods ... Our meals arrived all looked very nice ... 2 x Burgers & fries & 2 x Ham Egg & Chips ... My burger looked lovely ... No tomatoes to be seen ... That was apart from the burger sauce in the burger ... I asked the barman if it contains tomatoes ... He went to check with the chef & came straight back & informed me the sauce was made with tomatoes & told me not to eat it ... Luckerly I always check my meals before eatingan of it ... Because if I had eaten any of the burger they would have been calling an ambulance for me ... People don't seem to understand how dangerous it is to give someone something they are allergic too ... I always say you wouldn't give someone Peanuts if they were allergic to them ... I get the same answer everytime ... No of course not they always reply ... So why not take allergies seriously ... I always carry 2 injections with me everywhere I go just incase ... The Ham Egg & Chips I decided to have instead was very nice ... My cousin & her family all enjoyed their meals ... She reminded me the last time we had all eaten out too ... (A different pub) ... I had had an anaphylaxis attack with an ambulance being called ... She said how scary it was to watch someone going through anaphylaxis ... So please if someone says they are allergic to something please inform the kitchen ... Its not someone just being fussy ... Its someone who at the best just goes to A&E in an ambulance ... But at it's worse being taken straight to the morgue ... Please train all staff about allergies & how to inform the chef about them too
Wheelchair accessibility: Going in the side door we had a bit of trouble getting an wheelchair in ... On leaving we went ouy through the garden it was so much easier

The Cow
❒ Tapnell Farm House, Newport Rd, YarmouthJust came for lunch but was seriously impressed with the burgers. Proper chunky, meaty beef burgers. None of this slightly anaemic greyish beef you sometimes get - these are fat proper meaty slabs in a bun. Definitely worth the price. Lots of other stuff here like axe throwing and archery so presumably you can choose your burger beforehand?
Lots of space in the restaurant although would assume it gets rammed in summer. Good service and other options (including gluten free) on the menu too.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available

The Kings Head
Quay St, YarmouthReally good pub/restaurant. Service was amazing the food was to die for. The only grievance I have is the Opening hours that are displayed on Google are wrong. Other than that. No fault.

The Llama Tree Bistro & Pizzeria
Alpaca Stud, Main Rd, Wellow, YarmouthThe team at The Llama Tree could not have been more helpful and friendly when we asked if we could host part of our wedding there. We love West Wight Alpacas, just over the driveway, and we thought how wonderful it would be to feed our guests pizza after an experience feeding (and walking!) the animals. We struggled to choose from the pizza menu because everything sounded delicious! So the team did an even split of all their topping options and honestly, I'm still struggling to pick a favourite! Us, our families and our friends all enjoyed their pizza and audibly agreed with an Aunt when she said 'this is the best pizza outside of Italy!' The Llama Tree team decorated their space with very pretty wedding decorations and set the table beautifully. They kindly boxed up leftovers which did not last long - enjoyed and complimented again as an evening snack... and once more for breakfast! Thank you to all at The Llama Tree and West Wight Alpacas for making our first day as husband and wife so memorable!

On The Rocks
Bridge Rd, YarmouthWe very much enjoyed our delicious lunch here today. We ordered the mixed grill for 2 people from the main menu and the on The Rocks cheese cake for dessert. The chap looking after us was very friendly and chatty. It’s a little pricey but will definitely return in the future for a treat.

The Gossips Cafe
The Square, YarmouthAlways extremely busy during the holiday periods. Can cause staff to be overworked but generally a decent place to get a quick bite to eat.

The Bugle Coaching Inn
The Square, YarmouthHad a wonderful meal with my boat crew on Wednesday 11th September. Our Regatta had 13 boats with 8 crew each in Yarmouth so the Bugle was very busy that night. Despite this our food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The bar staff especially Helen were wonderful and catered for all our needs. Helen also assisted me with Taxi requirements and stayed late until she knew the taxi was finally on its way. I am disabled and this was very much appreciated. The taxi services on the island are not very reliable - had I known this in advance I would have booked a bedroom. I would certainly recommend this for great food and staff and look forward to visiting again.
