The Hut
Colwell Chine Rd, Colwell Bay, FreshwaterWe weren’t exactly looking for somewhere to eat, more for somewhere to have a coffee since we had a cooked breakfast and it wasn’t quite lunch time. However when we came across the hut, my curiosity got the better of me when I saw the beautiful decor and the larger ceiling to floor windows over looking the sea. We were ushered in and when we looked at the menu we were a little speechless. This is definitely not the type of place you stumble into for a quick bite to eat.
Despite the basic name, this restaurant was far from basic and that was reflected in the prices. I watched another couple enjoying a £120 surf and turf and share some lobster with their dog. After some persuasion we agreed to splash out a little and order a main meal to keep us going for the journey home. I ordered the steak as I do not like fish and the menu was very fish heavy. The steak was heavenly, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. My husband had the fish curry with was a red Thai sauce, I had a sneaky taste and it was also incredible. It was worth the money we paid and the atmosphere (loved their playlist) and beautiful decor made it for a perfect meal out. Had I a baby sitter and had we eating in the evening I think it would be even more perfect.
Kid-friendliness: Probably wouldn't take the kids If it was an option but it worked out well.

The Red Lion
Church Pl, FreshwaterHad a fabulous meal at The Red Lion tonight. It’s been a few years since we last visited and decided to visit again. We’ve heard good things about the food and we were not disappointed. The chicken and mushroom suet pie and ultra creamy mash with a delicious sauce were fabulous, and the apple crumble tart was scrumptious. Well worth a visit with friendly, welcoming staff and atmosphere.

Rainbow Fish Bar
1-2 Avenue Rd, FreshwaterHaving seen recent disappointing reviews, I was slightly hesitant. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The cod was fluffy and the batter crunchy. The chips were fresh and full. Service was a little slow but it’s what you can expect when it’s cooked fresh to order. It looked like they still take preorders over the phone. Would definitely recommend. Curry sauce was tasty too! They deserve more positive reviews if tonight was anything to go by.
Parking: On street parking available.
