80 High St, HarpendenFirst time in the Bangkok lounge. I have always wanted to try it out however much as the staff were very kind I feel the food was not as nice I I would have liked. Paid £85 pounds for two to eat. Which is fair if the food was spot on. Sadly I felt it wasn’t the best in quality.

The puddings would be even better with custard !
It was a shame that when we finished the staff were clearing away and it felt rushed as we would have liked to spend a bit longer with our friends.( It wasn't late)

I had the seafood 'Mare' risotto, which was creamy and rich with a hint of chilli. It is hard to improve on this, especially as it was all topped off with friendly and effortlessly efficient service. The staff were really great, especially Dillon his professionalism was a joy to experience, interms that he was so tentative and caring. For the service industry, he excelled, and you don't see that kind of customer service much. Thank you very much, Dillon.

Return visit a few years on. The menu is a little more refined and very good. Particularly enjoyed the chopped tomato, cucumber and onion salad as a side dish. Lovely fresh mint tea to end the meal.

The staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly, the food was amazing however the only thing that put a slight strain on the day and sad to say on the staff as well was their manager! For one very in appropriately dressed, wearing a top showing off her stomach is not appropriate attire for working in a restaurant and certainly not as a manager, two the manager was NOT very friendly or welcoming as matter of fact she was the complete opposite! You could clearly see this had an effect on the staff ! Which is a pity because the staff were absolutely amazing! The manager should not be in the management position with her horrible attitude and inappropriate clothing!

We asked for chicken tikka massala but it was misunderstood as chicken tikka. They then came out and delivered a fresh new chicken tikka masala free of charge. Would give a honest 8 out of 10.
8 just due to the potatoes not being as I would expect to be and the Yorkshire puddings slightly burnt! But didn't affect the meal as all 3 of us ate everything!
Will definitely go back as it's hard to find a good consistent Sunday roast!

It's a calm restful place in the hassle and bustle of the town centre. No food which is probably why its quieter than the other pubs.....deffo worth a visit!!! As a vegetarian I struggle with quality veggie options in takeaways, it’s usually just a load of vegetables in sauce or squishy tofu, but here they have blown my mind - I tried the Quorn Peking style sweet and sour with egg fried rice and it rocked my world. It felt like the standard chicken sweet and sour I used to have before I became a vegetarian, they’ve done such a great job recreating it! The Quorn is breaded, sauce is thick and delicious and the vegetables added in only add to it, there’s no filler here. Every meal has the Quorn option that I am excited to try! Staff are lovely and friendly and its average takeaway price so affordable. Seriously recommend for any veggies out there, Lord knows I will be back

Coffee has become absolutely excellent. Fruity, smooth… everything you want in a drink.
I had a cortado - a little small, I would have said it was a picallo but as mention, absolutely delicious.
Perfect for dog walkers, people wanting to work or to relax. A wonderful community filled with people wanting to connect and get to know you. A coffee shop that really cares.

No queuing and no noise inside the cafe. However there could be noise from the traffic if you sit outside.
The cherry on the cake is the gift shop within the cafe. If you're looking for gifts at short notice.
Friendly welcoming staff and lots of food on the menu.

Inside Purple Menswear, 33B High St, HarpendenThis wasn't what I thought it was. I thought it was a full cafe but it's a mini cafe. They didn't have any lunch items such as sandwiches. They did, however, have some delicious cakes which we brought to takeaway. The woman who served us was very friendly. They didn't have any dairy free alternatives for hot drinks.

Great variety on the menu, with a few other items on the specials board, and all appear to be decent size portions.
We enjoyed one of the pies and the vegetarian chilli. Yum.
Don't look too hard at other people's meals or you'll get food envy!
Service was also very good. Staff member Dianne was particularly good - welcoming, helpful and friendly.
