Locks Heath Centre, 10A Centre Way, Park Gate, SouthamptonWe've been coming to Basmati (and it's previous incarnations for decades) It's hands down the best Indian food in the area. They offer a the usual range of cuisine plus some excellent specials. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Basmati offers dine-in, takeaway and delivery.

Buoys Plaice Restaurant & Takeaway

A lot of mixed reviews for this place - here’s my simple good and bad reflection.
Good: Ample parking. Order on-line, at order point inside or interact with a human. Sit down and eat. Large menu with choices of fish, slush puppy, coffee machine, ice cream (and some for your dog!) Hot and fresh when we went at about 7pm. Tasty fish and chips.
Bad: 15 minute wait time . We ordered via a human, but priority seemed to have been given to non human systems as we watched probably a dozen people come and go.
Prices. For two fair sized fish (ordered small , a bit bigger than expected), and small chips with very dry small mushy peas, you are looking at £13, So, for two, the best part of £26 which didn’t seem particularly good value for money for what are ok-ish, better than average fish and chips.
Left some of the chips as they were small and too crispy.
So, would I go back? I have had a lot better and cheaper nearer to where I live. I’d like to think that there is something better around but at least I know Buoy’s is there until I find it.

Parking: Large car park, usually difficult to get parking very close to shops.
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly, OK baby changing facilities, highchairs available.
Wheelchair accessibility: Is wheelchair friendly, disabled toilets are good size.

Premier Inn Fareham hotel
Southampton Rd, Park Gate, SouthamptonAll the usual no-frills facilities that you expect from a Premier Inn. The main attraction being the price and the location to just outside of Portsmouth for cruises, ferries and sight-seeing without paying central Portsmouth prices.
Many of the rooms are right next to the car park, but surprisingly we weren’t affected by the noise as long as the windows were shut.
Sat nav totally confused as to which turn off to get to the hotel - so look-out for the TGI Fridays next door.
A few stores and fish and chips nearby. Functional, clean, powerful shower, tea making facilities and with wi-fi.
A decent breakfast (at additional cost).
Used by business and trades people as well as tourists as you might expect. Strange room ‘air conditioning’ - you can’t make the room cooler which was a bit odd on this hot summer night.
All in all though, no probs, except for the lack of usb charging, but to give it 5 stars I will highlight the very friendly staff and yes, a good nights sleep.

TGI Fridays - Fareham
87 Southampton Rd, Park Gate, SouthamptonServed by Tilly who was spot on with her service. Very smiley and helpful. My chips were luke warm and my wife’s piping hot, called her over where my wife said she would eat them with my whinge over. Soon after Tilly returned with a pint stating it was a left over and better than binning it she offered it to me. Apart from my chips the food was good and service spot on.
