The Flower Pots Inn
Brandy Mount, Cheriton, New Alresford, AlresfordHad a lovely time this afternoon. When we turned up the kitchen was just shutting. However the manager / owner spoke to the Chef and persuaded them to stay open. Thank you for doing this , it was great customer service. The food was very tasty and great selection of local beers. In addition to this we went into the brewery shop and got a great explanation of the beers which they sold. It was a great experience and will certainly be back. Thank you!
Kid-friendliness: Nice garden out the back for kids to run around in.

The Three Horseshoes
The Three Horseshoes, Bighton Dean Ln, AlresfordThe Three Horseshoes is a fantastic spot for both fish and chips and a classic roast dinner! The fish and chips are crispy, fresh, and bursting with flavor—definitely some of the best around. Their roast dinner is equally impressive, with tender meat, perfectly roasted veggies, and all the trimmings. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service make every visit a treat. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out!

The Fox - Bramdean
A272, Bramdean, AlresfordThe Fox Inn at Bramdean is a real gem of a pub and a rare find these days. The building originates from the 17th century and is Grade II listed. By not being overly modernised, it has retained a genuine old pub atmosphere and it is all the better for it in my view. I had Chicken Supreme from the lunch menu and it was excellent. The highlight was the chicken leg, which was cooked perfectly, so that it was still moist and tender; the cream sauce, with mushrooms and wilted spinach was well seasoned. Service was equally good with pleasant and friendly staff. It's a bit out of the way but easy to get to and definitely worth taking a trip out to visit. Highly recommended.
Nearby activities: Hinton Ampner National Trust house.

The Horse & Groom, Alresford
2 Broad St, AlresfordNice lunchtime dinner. Lovely food. Good service initially but forgot about us after our main meal had been delivered. Had to go to the bar to get another glass of wine and had to find the waiter to chase to get the bill with no offer of desert.

The Hinton Arms
Petersfield Rd, AlresfordWe came here with my in-laws, who are frequent visitors as they live about 30 minutes away. Happy to see they had three very clearly labelled vegan options. They were accommodating of a small request to change a dish's accompaniment. The young staff were excellent, always friendly. It was busy and we did wait a while for our food but this was fine because we were happy to chat.
The portions were very large and they provided a foil box for any leftovers if asked. The chips were amazing; the highlight of my meal. The bean chilli was more akin to a casserole than chilli con carne but hit the spot with very well cooked rice.
For any fellow herbivores looking for somewhere to eat in this area please note there is hunting paraphernalia everywhere - skulls mounted on the walls everywhere you look. However, they've made an effort to be inclusive including dishes that can be made gluten free, so it's worth a visit for that. The outside is very pretty, with beautiful floral displays.
Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free options.

Well Presented delicious family-style Veg, I could not get enough of the sweet roasted Carrots not to mention the roast potatoes. To die for. I would not share My Lamb but it was too good to experience all by myself. Our last experience in the garden was good but inside upstairs is a must, so much character. Mange2 Deli
44-46 West St, AlresfordA good deli in upper middle class New Alresford; very helpful service and some great products. I bought a great quiche Lorraine. They will order a product in for you and keep it in stock if you want it regularly. There is a cheese counter to die for. A must buy is their little strong cheese tart cases but, beware, they are highly addictive even eaten on their own.
