Maharaja Indian Cuisine
15 Lower High St, Chipping CampdenExcellent seafood curry. We were originally offered Indian fair from our hotel, but their menu seemed a little limited. We found maharaja just about a five minute walk.
This is our first restaurant stop and the Cotswolds as we start our trek down the Cotswolds way.
We visited and put in a reservation for 6 PM . We arrived a little early and had a cider and beer at the pub out front. Great friendly local place with very affordable ciders and beers.
We arrived a little after six for our reservation and were seated immediately.
They have an extensive offering it was really hard to choose .
I started with the Adha scallops - it had a light ginger and herb flavoring on the baby scallops. For dinner I had the Bangla fish Tawa- it has shrimp and shellfish in it, and the sauce is described as sensational, hot, sweet and tangy relish sauce - it was a light brown sauce that was indeed fantastic and slightly tangy. I would definitely order this again. I also had a side order of saag. We had garlic naan for the table.
Other table favorites included the duck . The tandoori duck starter was excellent. For our rice accompaniment, we had the coconut rice that has a little bit of sweetness to it and the fried rice which was more savory.

The Kings Arms
High St, Mickleton, Chipping CampdenWe stayed in an AirBnB nearby for 6 nights and before we arrived we were glad that there was a “lovely looking pub” nearby. Fast forward a week and we realised we’d spent 3 evenings and an afternoon in there.
The staff, food, service and landlord all deserve 5 stars but the garden & outdoor bar also deserves a mention. It’s a wonderful maze of covered huts, comfy furniture and hidden corners. What a gem of a place!

Eight Bells Inn
Church St, Chipping CampdenFiona and I stayed at the Eighty Bells for 2 nights 11/12- October 2024. This stay was unusual in that we normally Google reviews as to see the experiences of others.
This visit came about from a conversation while on holiday with one of the owners, Neil.
I met Neil Corfu while staying at the RC Hotel. Which is a "special interest" hotel. We share a passion for building/flying RC model aeroplanes.
One of a number of conversations centred around how Real Ales should be stored. Too many beers are served cold like Lager!! During this conversation Neil mentioned that he had co-owned a 17C pub/restaurant since 1999.
This was in June, when we returned to Blighty, had a chat with Fiona, and booked for my 70th in October.
It did not disappoint.
As a frequent winner of CAMRA titles the choice of beer and quality was great. The atmosphere of the pub was as a pub should be, busy and buzzing. The bar serves food, which looked good.
The room we had was well equipped, clean, the shower came with instructions, nice touch, so often the right temperature is achieved as if by magic!!
We had dinner in the pub dining room. The food was fab, service outstanding. All the staff were brilliant throughout our stay. To single out one seems a little unfair but the lass who served breakfast on the Sunday was really brilliant, cheerful, nothing was too much.
I suspect that the staff turnover is very low? All the staff could do anything asked of them - register guests, check out guests etc. Makes a stay easy.
We cannot recommend it high enough. We will go back next year.
Nearby activities: Good walking/hiking area. An OS map might be useful if you want to go further afield.
Food and drinks: Plenty of eating options in the village to cater for all tastes. Advise booking well in advance of your visit.
Noteworthy details: The high street is picture perfect.

Michael's Mediterranean Restaurant
High St, Chipping CampdenI probably picked wrong on the food. Was not over excited about the selection and kind of guessed. Cannot say I enjoyed the food but the pricing was reasonable. Maybe a bit more help when selecting from the menu might be useful.

Decades Cafe
Broadway Rd, Mickleton, Chipping CampdenOur first visit to this "little gem", what a great choice! Plenty of carparking for our mid week visit.
The service was great, the food, freshly prepared and well presented. Called in for lunch and chose sandwiches & a pot of tea. The bread, both white & granary was tasty, both the fillings, tuna/mayo & ham & cheese were very generous and delicious as was the garnish.
Definitely worth several return visits!

Cotswold House Hotel & Spa
Upper High Street The Square, Chipping CampdenWe stayed one night in the suite which was fabulous. And we stayed one night in an upstairs room which needed upgrading. Although the upstairs room was large with a good view. Bathroom was outdated. We loved the gardens the spa, the grill, the breakfast food and breakfast room atmosphere. Spa, steam room and pools builtin hot tub were all great. Very nice staff.

The Bakers Arms
Angel Ln, Broad Campden, Chipping CampdenWe walked into the Bakers a couple of weeks ago and I was impressed with the refurb. My friend who is a beer connoisseur was very impressed with the ale. I took my wife and friends for my birthday meal and really enjoyed the food and service. Highly recommended.
Dietary restrictions: I am on a low carb diet and I requested a salad to replace the chips. I am not a natural salad eater, but this was really good.

Randall's Bar Brasserie at Three Ways House
Three Ways House, Chapel Ln, Mickleton, Chipping CampdenA group of around 20 bellringers spent 3 nights here. We had a very reasonable package including breakfast and three course evening meal. Having read some TA reports, I was a little apprehensive of what had been booked for us. I shouldn’t have, because everything was excellent. My brother and I shared a large twin room in one of the extensions which had plenty of space ( Room 39) and a large sofa, with no outside noise interference. The breakfast was to a high standard, and vegetarian sausages were available on request. Decor was fine throughout, evening meal choices were very good. We were impressed by the skills of the chefs, who obviously hadn’t been taught using the ping-ping microwave way. Many items were obviously home made, and they excelled on the sweets. Would definitely stay here again, and even the American visitors didn’t talk too loud, and they get a lot. Definitely worth a visit if staying in the Cotswold area.

Crystal Palace - Fish & Chips - Chinese Takeaway
13 Sheep St, Chipping CampdenOn holiday locally and found here via Google! Really lovely shop with pleasant service. Good food but the shredded chicken was a bit like pork scratching!! Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. The duck was superb and the garlic butter fried rice was superb! Cash only but worth a visit.

Bistro on the Square, Campden
The Square Upper, High St, Chipping CampdenGreat meal, feel portions should be larger for the cost but after 3 courses I was full. Ordered a cocktail which didn’t turn up and our sparking wine arrived with our mains which was also different to the one we ordered, good experience but room for improvement
