My wife and I often walk to Bath Road from home and we like popping to the Norwood Arms for lunch.

The traditional English breakfast on their brunch menu is consistently good, not greasy with crisp hash browns and nice toast. We also had a slice of Victoria sponge and a mug of tea each, which is good value at £3.49. We usually take the cake home to have later!

One suggestion for improvement is the hot water for breakfast tea which should be a tad hotter.

I ordered at the bar and the young lady who served me was friendly and most helpful.

Went to The Coconut Tree for the first time for my birthday with my wife, and it was simply amazing. The food, the staff and the vibe were all excellent. The place was packed at 9 pm and we managed to get seated within 10 minutes. We ordered the Egg Hopper, Chicken Curry on the Bone, Goat and Potato Curry, Prawn Fried Rice and a Paratha on the side. The menu packs a punch and food tasted authentic. The staff will stop you if you are over ordering. The staff genuinely takes time to look after customers which is makes the overall experience so much better. The drinks were excellent too. Had a couple of beers and cocktails are excellent. The head chef gave us a complimentary cocktail for my birthday. I would come back again here and bring some of my friends!!

Met up with a friend for drinks and dinner and picked here as not been before and the bar is dog friendly.
It is a lovely traditional style pub with a large outside seating area too.
It was a Thursday and they have Pie and a pud for £18. I had beef and redwine pie and it was delicious! Big bits of beef in there too! With Sticky toffee pudding for pudding.
My friend had Fish&Chips and Pavlova. Oh the pavlova was a real sugar sensation!
The atmosphere was good and it was quite busy too which was lovely to see.

Really charming Italian / American delicatessen with excellent food. The only sour note was the food was served in sturdy recyclable cardboard containers sensibly lined with greaseproof paper to stop them from getting soiled, recyclable plastic cutlery, and recyclable plastic cups. I confidently expected these all to be recycled, but at the end of the meal I saw the proprietor stuff them all with the leftovers into a black landfill sack. Such a disappointment.

We came to The House In The Tree for a meal Mother's day 30th March 2025 . It was my husbands 60th birthday and there were 20 of us. Well what can I say. The staff were amazing and attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they were all genuinely friendly, happy people and it was so busy. An unexpected treat. Lunchtime, and we noticed the menu board with a rather different offering, not the usual sandwiches or soup but a rather grown up, sophisticated choice of small delights. Small, it said so we ordered three plates between two of us, very greedy and really too much, but we managed every delightful mouthful.
A pot of boar pate, a tin of anchovies and a plate of the silkiest hummus I have ever had. Loads of wonderful focaccia, lightly toasted, a pickled red cabbage, cornichons and caper berries. Stunning. Served simply, honestly and perfect.
Aperol Spritz and a bottle of beer. Elegant surroundings, good music. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you.

We aren’t wine experts so the flight was the perfect, non-intimidating option for us. We had fun finding adjectives to describe our delicious wine and learned a lot.

Myself and my partner stayed in Stow this weekend just gone. We went to Off the Square on Saturday and Sunday. The atmosphere was lovely, a great craft beer place but also plenty of options for those who don't fancy a beer. The guy who was working there on Saturday was really friendly (sorry we can't remember his name). Seabass who was there on Sunday was also brilliant and really friendly too. Ended up buying some beers to take home with us too. Hopefully will visit again in the near future.

Went there for a family meal and it was incredible. From the service to the the food everything is impeccably impressive. The wine list is vast and the food menu also spoils you for choice as it all sounds delicious. I personally chose a mix of the menus ordering fish for starters and meat for mains, it all came out of the kitchen cooked to perfection. You can tell the passion for food is very alive in those 4 walls and it really gets to you as you get to try all the amazing flavours. Cant finish the review without mentioning the choice of cheeses in the end of your meal, they all get introduced to you according their flavour profile and surprise surprise: all as good as the rest of the meal.

My husband and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary today at Zizzis at it was amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was brilliant and the food was delicious. Our waiter, Tom, was so friendly and made sure we had everything needed/wanted. His reccomendations were spot on (the lemon drizzle martini was perfect) and he checked on us throughout our meal to ensure everything was OK. Rebecca, the manager, also makes the best cappuccinos! She must do it the proper Italian way, which is hugely appreciated!

We will definitly be returning and Zizzi's will now be our regular spot, thank you!

I attended a beer and food pairing event at The Railway in Cheltenham last night with some friends, and it was a fantastic experience.

Matt, who curated the beer selections, gave insightful explanations about how the drinks were chosen to “complement, contrast, or cut” through the flavors of the food. The dishes were all Thai food from the venues authentic Thai menu.

The evening kicked off with delicious prawn crackers paired with Boon Oude Geuze Lambic Beer, known as the 'champagne of the beer world.' This beer has been brewed since 1975, featuring a unique blend of Lambics aged in oak barrels, resulting in a complex, fruity flavor with hints of grapefruit and a gentle sourness – a perfect opener to the evening.

I’d not tried the food here, and I had not tried any of the beers being paired so I was excited with how well this simple snack and fancy beer went so well together.

The “first official course” was a Thom Ka Soup from Central Thailand, paired with Schneider Weisse, a classic German wheat beer. This match was ideal, as the beer's smooth texture worked beautifully with the soup's rich coconut flavors and the little kick of spice.

Next came the Spicy Crispy Chicken Wings, fried to perfection and seasoned with Thai Zabbs powder, chili, and toasted rice powder. The pairing with Keller Pils, an English interpretation of a Keller Lager brewed by Lost and Grounded in Bristol. This was probably the hottest dish and my favourite of the evening. Apparently chicken wings like this paired with a Lager are a fail safe combo and one I’ll definitely be having again.

We then had a serving of Sen Chan Pad, a dish similar to Pad Thai but with its own unique history and variations. It was paired with two beers: Dusk, brewed at Clavell and Hind Brewery, and Til Dawn from Gloucester Brewery. The beers have the same base ingredients but slight variations have them result in two very different end products. Pairing the two with the one dish brought out the dish's complex flavours, showcasing two great beers and some of the potential versatility of pairing beer with food.

The finale was a standout, flavour filled Beef Massaman curry paired with Erdinger Dunkel 1886, a beer that added additional depth to the rich, spiced dish. This beer was pretty special and I would like to try this combination again too.

Overall, this event was a relaxing, well done evening of learning more about food and drink - Matt has been in the industry a while and loved sharing his knowledge and answering our questions. The pairings were thoughtfully curated, and each beer enhanced the flavours of the Thai food.

I feel like I learned a lot and could try doing some pairings of my own - which I think is what you’d hope for from a night like this.

There is lots of heat, spice and lemongrass used in Thai food, so as long as your into those I can highly recommend the menu at the Railway, and encourage you to sign up for events and experiences like this when they are on offer.

Vegetarian options: There was a vegetarian at the event who loved the food options they were served.

Wow… what a great find! We tried Lakeside for a Friday night Fish & Chip treat for my birthday. Having looked at the Google rating and reviews I decided that this may be a good option being closer to us than some of the other Fish & Chip takeaways in the Cheltenham area.

I called ahead to ask if a pre-order was possible and had a very cheery and professional lady take my order for collection 15 minutes later.

Upon arrival there was a huge queue stretching out of the door which to me was a great sign of what we could expect for our fish supper. As I made my way to the counter to explain that I had a pre-order everyone else was chatting about the quality of the offerings from this shop.

As I waited I noticed that the ‘Fryer Man’ was asking people in the queue if they needed anything cooking as they moved down the line. I thought this was a great touch and ensured less waiting in the long run.

I gave the lady my order number and she proceeded to make my order up there and then… no sitting in a bag getting soggy here!

After paying a very reasonable amount for three fish and chips plus trimmings we were in for a great treat.

The haddock was amazing, crispy batter and such tasty fish inside. We ordered two large chips between us and they were huge and really yummy. Mushy peas and curry sauce were also top notch!

All in all, amazing quality, super service with very friendly and efficient staff… such a great find in the Hatherley locality… go there… you won’t be disappointed. We will be using Lakeside as our go to Fish & Chip shop now! Thank You! ?

I ordered the Hawaiian 12oz burger with peri peri fries and mozzarella sticks and all of them were amazingly cooked, the burger was really juicy and didn't have too much lettuce, I also had the triple chocolate freak shake and that was divine. Shame about the deliveroo driver trying to ruin your evening, but since that's not to do with you I haven't altered my score in any way, wouldn't be fair.
