Yet again the food was absolutely beautiful, the meat was cooked to perfection ? and the chilli prawns I had were delicious.
The best by far ?
A few of my friends had never been to Charcoal before, they was very impressed with the food too, which was nice for me as I suggested dining there for the evening ?
The staff are so lovely and friendly, the atmosphere is always amazing every time I visit.
I highly recommend C&E they never disappoint

74 High St, RayleighNice traditional pie & mash restaurant & very reasonably priced & good service, while there are other selection of food here like burger + chips & full English etc, there is only one choice of pie which is beef (from memory) - nice as it is but being a pie restaurant as per the name of the restaurant I would of thought there be other choice if I wanted to try another choice of pie next time... still nice restaurant & great tasting food anyhow

Overall it was better than any london restaurant I'm used to, even better than those in Stoke Newington, green street - the lot. A lucky find after the cursed theme even in Rayleigh. Chilli sauce was so unique and the meats tender, fresh and flavoursome. Then price was so good too, way less then London prices, and of course I got the credit for choosing the place.l thanks to the reviews before me. Very very clean restaurant, hygenic and really pleasant relaxed atmosphere. I really recommend this restaurant.

We had visitors from Australia and Zimbabwe all gagging for good old English fish "n'' chips, they were over the moon with the quality and size, six clean plates the end result.
Well done to Chris's for completing a special event.

Four different meals ordered and all we absolutely spot on, quality, temperature, quantity and speed of service on a busy Friday. Fantastic, we visited a larger chain last evening apart from the buffet it was no comparison, expensive, lacklustre and disinterested staff. A quick chat with the manager was fantastic the most engaged and positive approach to food and customers - a revelation. So happy to return, soon!

7 High St, RayleighWe called at 7:20 Friday on the odd chance we could get a table (not exp anything). They happened to have a table that was free until 8:30 and stated they had served the current tables and could serve us in that time of we were happy to eat in that timeframe.
When we arrived the waiter seated us and took our drinks order. He then returned and stated that he'd informed the kitchen to expedite our meals to ensure we had as much time as possible to eat.
The service was lightning fast, but didn't feel rushed. We finished up after around 40 minutes and spent the remaining time finishing our drinks. The consensus at the table was that the food was excellent.
It was ideal for our group that just wanted to have a nice meal, at short notice and get back to drinking!
Great food, excellent service and very accommodating. Will certainly visit again (booking ahead next time!)

91 High Street, RayleighMy first visit to this particular branch. It's in a lovely old building, very quaint. I was advised they were short-staffed and it was busy, but they worked hard to look after us and the food was just as you'd expect.
Kid-friendliness: There were plenty of youngsters eating and I saw high chairs.

I find if you are polite and offer some gratitude it goes a long way here. They work hard at Rayleigh with an incredibly busy customer footfall, I remain mindful of this on the rare occasion something is less than perfect. Thank you for looking after me. Steve

Lovely interior of the restaurant and the food was exceptional. Very tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Think I annoyed my girlfriend with how many times I said “how nice is this!?” And “I can’t believe we’ve never been here before” ?. Will most certainly be back again. Highly recommend the pig cheeks tapas - delicious!

The staff were all really friendly and there was a really good drinks selection with prices not being too bad at all.
