Humber Tavern
70 Main St, Paull, HullThis is an unassuming place. But wait till you go in. There's on-road parking, and it's located at the end of the street just at the bend. It had outside seating as well overlooking the Humber River.
Inside it very quaint, with pictures and usual pub decor. Several large screens are showing sport, and thoughtfully, the volume is off. Background music was playing, and everyone was cheerful.
Now, the best bit was the food.
There's a small menue and specials board. This means that what they do, they do extremely well.
So three of us visited my wife & I plus her daughter.
Kim had the Thai salmon, wife & I the roast dinner.
A medium and large. Well, when it turned up, we were surprised at the size. They were huge. There is a choice of three meats, and we both had beef. The cuts of meat were very large and thick. Cooked beautifully. Tender and soft. We got a bowl of veg, then another. The roast potatoes were proper, not steamed. A proper Yorkshire pudding, lashings of thick meaty gravy.
The daughter had peas and rice plus a salad with her salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had so much food that we had to leave a bit.
Next time, we will order a small and a medium instead.
Fantastic food, the staff also are great as is the owner, Trev. What a great guy.
They have some very nice wine, ciders including a blood orange one which was nice and a couple of Ales on tap.
Lots of people were eating and our neighbours go all the time. Testament to the quality (they all have large and puddings).
We've had roast dinners in lots of laces, the Railway Inn, Hornsea garden centre, etc, and for the quality, quantity, and price, this place can't be beaten.
A shout out to Trev's daughter and her wife, who are the cooks. Absolutely fantastic ladies. We will be back.
Oh, there's lots of seating in the main bar area and a large side room, and they cater for groups too.
Kid-friendliness: There were children and a baby present, and there is a cut down portions on the kids' menu available, plenty of soft drink options too.

Apollo
1082 Holderness Rd, HullNot been for several years. Booked for us, daughter and grandson who is special needs. Friendly greeting. Shown to our table. Easy ordering food. Our meals and desserts were really good. We were served by Jayden. A lovely lad, very courteous and attentive. He is a credit to the Apollo. We will certainly be back.

The Falcon
60 Falkland Rd, HullNice local on an estate. During my visit the bar/ lounge was quite busy. Warm friendly welcome. Although there are cask hand pulls on the bar there was no real ale available. Enjoyed my pint in a pub where people actually talk to each other.
