Food here is as delicious as it looks! The pancake breakfast is the best of both worlds, sweet and savoury. Highly recommend a visit. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We had a little wait as it’s a small cafe but completely worth it!

Went to Lock Gates for the first time yesterday. It's lovely inside, the staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. The three of us had different things and it all arrived at the same time, and we all enjoyed our food. I highly recommend the eggs benedict. Looking forward to going back again.

Really friendly and welcoming team. Food was great quality too. Moulles, calamari, king prawns, flat iron with chmichurri. What's not to love. Be aware that parking is in the marina and is charged. The 'myparkigspace' is rubbish and the phone system not much better.

Didn't book a table. We just turned up around 6.45pm. They just told us to sit for a few minutes whilst they cleaned a table for us.

The restraunt itself is very well lit and beautiful with all the fairy lights, the lovely hanging ivy and the balconies it's easy on the eyes. It's also very colourful and has a lot of little quirky things you'll notice.

The food was amazing, and i will definitely be returning and also recommending this bistro.

Before our starters came, they brought us a bowl of fresh bread with butter. You could tell it was freshly made.

First, we ordered 2 starters, the chicken stripes and garlic mushrooms. My partner liked the fact that the garlic mushrooms were cooked in garlic instead of just stuffed and said they were the best she's ever eaten. The chicken stripes were amazing with panko breadcrumbs.

I ordered the hot shot parmesan with chips, the parmesan was nice, the chicken tender, and the breadcrumbs were tasty.

The chips were among some of the best I've eaten well cooked and crispy but yet soft on the inside.

My partner ordered the slow-cookrd beef in red wine with root vegetables. She said the beef was melt in your mouth tender - however, there were 2 small pieces that were a little fatty, The mash was perfect?. The vegetables were delicious, and it was also served with roasties, which she said was unneeded as she had mash but said they were perfect crispy outside and fluffy inside.

Considering all the food we ordered and a pint each, we were pleasantly surprised with the price we did go during the happy hour promotion, though.

Parking: I parked outside and had no issues, I got there around 6.45pm, so I'm not sure if this is different at other times or days as it's midweek we went on a Wednesday.

Kid-friendliness: The place is nice and bright and child friendly, also seen that schools do pizza making here.

Wheelchair accessibility: Unless I missed something, the only way in appeared to be up alot of stairs.

Purchased 4 adult meals, a side and a starter and a round of drinks. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely faultless. The chips were the best I’ve ever tasted, home made, beautiful! Parmo was perfect, burger was perfect, wrap was perfect, cod and chips were perfect, onion rings were perfect and potato skins were perfect. Barry was extremely helpful tending to the specific needs of 2 very picky teens. Excellent value and beautiful home cooked food. (We had already eaten half the wrap, so it was twice as much than in the picture). Sorry the pics aren’t great, the food was fantastic! Highly recommended!

Been going to this gem of a cafe for a long while now the best bacon and mushrooms buns in the world! ?the range of lovely breakfasts are superb the Stationmaster breakfast takes a bit of eating ? food is beautifully served. Tried the Mistress option breakfast which was lovely. They also do a great menu of mid day meals and snacks this place is great value. My favourite breakfast treat place ever . ???great range of cakes and pies as well ?

Parking: You can park in nearby Morrisons for 3 hours and take a short walk to the cafe

Hubby and i visited for Sunday lunch and it was delicious I had the lamb roast dinner and he had the roast chicken (which is just a chicken breast and not a whole chicken as my husband thought!) Food was piping hot and delicious. Didn't get a picture of our mains just our desserts which were just as nice.

Tried tonight as I think we have tried every Indian takeaway in the town and haven't found a single one we like. Collected our order, inside was very well decorated and smelled amazing. There was a little wait for our order but we were offered a complimentary drink, we arent into freebies but were happy to wait just hoping the food was as good as it smelled. 20 minutes later and we had the goods..well we are both in a food coma now, absolutely everything was unreal. The curries were absolutely packed with flavour, vegetables and meat. The breads were beautiful and the sides were perfect. The massive bonus was the chips being proper home made chips, not that we get a curry for the chips. But finally after 13 years of looking we now have a favourite regular Indian takeaway! Thank you!

Don't over order...you will want to but the portions are decent so 3 small dishes is usually the perfect amount...4 if your really hungry!

1st time visiting Verrills after being recommended.
Long Que outside, but goes down really quickly as plenty of polite staff serving.
The fish and chips were beautiful accompanied by some curry sauce.
No card payments excepted. Had to drive around to find a cash point.
Next time I’m in Hartlepool i will definitely be back. I would highly recommend.
The people alongside me in the Que were all lovely and friendly too.

Got to be far and away the most beautiful cafe/ restaurant anywhere near Hartlepool. Majestic old converted church right by the harbour and town wall. Both the English breakfasts and especially the Thai meals are scrumptious. Coffee is also excellent and the 2 bottles of Singha for a fiver also go down well. staff and service are warm and welcoming. i'm lookinh goraard to the warm winter Thai soups the owner Nee is thinking of introducing. well worth a visit anyhow.
