Front Street, Chester Moor, Chester-le-StreetWe've visited The Church Mouse many times over the years and have never been disappointed with either the food or the service. We recently visited on the 11/01/25 for an impromptu meal. We were seated almost straight away and served by a very polite and courteous gentleman named Alec. As always, the food (steaks) was beautiful and the served just as good. Would highly recommend.

14 N Burns, Chester-le-StreetI was never the type of person to go out and buy coffee I'd only ever drink it at home, but I worked next door to miss elephant and all the staff there would buy coffee so I took the risk and never looked back, The only bad thing is every other coffee shop doesn't compare!

Front St, Chester-le-StreetWe came for our daughter’s 10th birthday on Monday, we all enjoyed the food. The waitress was so lovely she couldn’t do enough for us! She even sang happy birthday to our daughter it really made her smile thank you!

My breakfast thos morning was great and cappuccino served just how I like it, not too hot.
Staff are very friendly the place has a family run feel to it.

Only criticism is that the fries served with my wifes main course were obviously frozen variety with some overcooked otherwise it would have been 5 stars all round. Would definitely come back.

The Snooks
Front St, Great Lumley, Chester-le-StreetI attended an open mike night at the snooks. There was a really friendly welcoming atmosphere that gives ordinary people the chance to enjoy performing live for an audience. There was a range of singers and styles on view and everyone seemed to enjoy the night. I will be back for more Every second Tuesday.

Every part of our meal was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. Just a shame for the staff that not more people using the restaurant and ordering take away instead. 3 Bridge End, Chester-le-StreetVisited the restaurant again for the first time in years and was not disappointed. Ordered the set banquet (but tweaked a couple of choices). The food was absolutely amazing. Beautifully presented, freshly made to order, great portion sizes and honestly, absolutely delicious. Service was excellent too. Highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be back!

Front St, Chester Moor, Chester-le-StreetBooked a table in advance although there was no need as being early Jan, they were relatively quiet, shown to our table & menus provided, drinks order taken whilst waiting for family to arrive, tbh there was such a range on the menu it took us a while to order. The food when it arrived was well presented & tasted wonderful, was piping hot too which was a bonus, kids & hubby got a pudding each, hubby devoured the Eton mess, kids couldn’t eat their sticky toffee puddings as the portions were huge, would suggest you possibly share but I’m not a pudding person although they looked & smelt amazing. Based on this experience we would definitely return & recommend to others, shout out to John the member of staff dealing with us who was really engaging & very pleasant, thank you!

188 Front St, Chester-le-StreetPossibly the best takeaway pizza, chicken kebab and cheesy garlic bread I've ever had. Lots of large chunks of well flavoured chicken, well cooked. Not chewy or dry. BeautifulThere were big slices of cooked garlic and plenty of mozzarella. Really nice dough. Was the garlicyest (is that a word) garlic bread ever. They don't shirk on the toppings , tons or tuna and onion and theres something about the tomato sauce they use. The whole thing was great. I wasn't expecting it from just another pizza takeaway.Had the rest next day on the way home.People complain about the price, well make your own mind up but it's well worth it to me. Same with the staff. Ok they weren't smiley happy people but who cares. I don't usually do long reviews, but this is an exception. Hope we visit Chester Le St again soon

Glenavon Ave, South Pelaw, Chester-le-StreetI'm staying in the area for a few days and fancied a takeaway. I'm so glad I found this place, I asked them for something that was not on the menu, a 'mushroom chow mein', which was absolutely no problem and according to my wife, was brilliant. The food was amazing, puts my home town Chinese to shame, good portion size, l will definitely use again the next time I'm visiting in the area.
If it's your first time using, they are cash only, but you won't regret the visit.Enjoy, we did.

Lager and beer prices are decent, and the music is good...but gets turned up loud after 8pm on a Saturday. TV's all around the bar to cater for sports and music.

Plough Inn
Plough Inn, High Flatts, Chester-le-StreetGreat pub and prices of drink are very cheap. Locals really friendly, and a good old fashioned pub.
Went a few times whilst staying next door at the C&C club certified site.
Only thing I would suggest is to list opening times in window and there is no hanging sign or stand up blackboard outside to indicate it’s an open pub and it could be missing out on passing trade if you didn’t know it was there.
Nice cut lawn beer garden also out the back. Really enjoyed our few nights in it, and can’t believe how cheap it was.
