Lilac Restaurant & Wine Bar
57-58 Broad St, Lyme RegisExceptional food, locally sourced and foraged. The chef often came out to serve the dishes and was more than happy to talk about the ingredients, where he had foraged some of them and how the dish was made.
Every plate was well conceived, light and tasty, even the bigger dishes such as the ox cheek or venison. Wine suggestions were excellent and every wine we tried was surprising and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful, the venue small and welcoming.
This rates as one of the best food experiences I've had. Get there now while it's still small and relatively undiscovered because it deserves to get better known and booked up months in advance.

Strawberry Tree
The Town Mill, Mill Ln, Lyme RegisNot going to lie, the food was kinda ruined by a sodding seagull. We bought three chorizo pasties and some cake to takeaway, and whilst I was attempting to give a bit to my daughter some VERY confident seagull swooped in took the WHOLE THING ?
Quickly learned a very important lesson about Lyme Regis, and that’s eat your food with caution ?
Oh, we also bought some lemon olive oil and some smoked sea salt. Sure, it’s more expensive than you’d pay in a supermarket, but so it should be. We like coming away and support random places that we find, and the whole “Mill Lane” area is quite nice and picturesque. The type of place I could imagine spending a nice afternoon with my wife.
Alas, we had three young kids so we didn’t really fancy sitting in a small restaurant ? honestly, they’re too chaotic for that.
But yeah, if you’re in the area and fancy giving somewhere nice a visit, then give Strawberry Tree a crack ?? just be AWARE OF SEAGULLS.

Harbour Inn
23 Marine Parade, Lyme RegisOn what turned out to be a beautiful day we'd booked lunch at the Harbour Inn. On arrival the place was buzzing. But the food was great, mussels for me and GF bread. The menu is clear for gluten free options explained.. The staff were friendly and the service was good as they were busy. All in all a great place to eat and the restaurant is bigger than you think! Enjoy this little gem!

The Oyster & Fish House
Cobb Rd, Lyme RegisWe liked it. Lucky day...the sun was out...the terrace beckoned...no crowd around...the food was good...the service gracious...the view enticing. What's not to like? The oysters pleasing to the eye...except the price, maybe. As a Frenchman I seem to remember, but that was a while ago, I still could chuck a dozen for the price of one today. Inflation, I am told...So it goes!

Herbies
Marine Parade, Lyme RegisWe drove to Lyme for a fish supper because the weather was so good. I'm really glad we tried Herbie's for the first time. No whitebait so I was offered a free upgrade to haddock.- beautiful texture and taste, so fresh. My wife's squid was nicely seasoned and cooked just right. Thanks for splitting one portion of chips between the two boxes: we all hate waste. The Cobb can't be beaten for a place to eat. Thanks so much.

The Nags Head
32 Silver St, Lyme RegisGreat local pub at the top of a very steep hill!
We went in for lunch pretty late so only a few of the local regulars were in, always good to lusten to the local talk from men in pubs! Tye barmaid was excellent and worked her bar with style, the owners myst make sure to keep her and pat her well she earns her money and with her brilliant technique makes you money.
I ate scampi and chips and my partner burger and chips both were good. We enjoyed our food with a beer and cider.
The locals are lucky people.
